I don’t know. Baz has really fixed up his set shot kicking. He looks very relaxed and confident in his motion now. Last 2 weeks and the previous week in the WAFL have been the best I’ve ever seen from him as a forward.

It’s a pleasant surprise that Baz has become a very viable KPF/2nd ruck.

I do think JW would be the one that misses out if we go down that track.

Williams x2 both out of contract next year. Baz ad a FA (likely unrestricted), and Shanahan is out of contract next year too.

We have some important decisions to make, and we need to make them pretty soon.
I think we will promise Shanahan what he needs to hear, one of the Williams will ask for a move out, whichever one of them is o the outer at the time or gets the best alternative offer probably.
Could be this year, could be next.

If Allen isnt on the market anymore and he re-signs, JWilliams would genuinely be one of the better options for clubs with a need for a KPF.
I dunno where Bailey will sit, whether other clubs will see him as a ruck/fwd or a fwd/ruck if you know what I mean

If Gov goes and we trade in Z Reid or Busslinger we almost have enough KPD with 1 of the trades, Edwards/Brock/Bazzo and our NGA player in 2026 D Shanahan.

If WC feel we need another developing KPD 1 of C Dennis or G Stumpf would be a low risk, low price draftees in 2025, both will be only just 19 around draft time. I see Stumpf has nominated for the MSD.
I dont think we look at any of these guys in the MSD, and I dont think we pursue any of them hard at the end of the year either unless we forget about one or more of our NGA kids.
Maybe we draft a KPP with the hawks 1st but id rather we didnt, unless Oscar and Gov are gone.
Reading between the lines I think WC like Edwards on the big KFD and slower ones, Brock on the more mobile KPF and Bazzo if he can get his body right is a 3rd tall.
He has had a good 6 weeks at WAFL level so he looks to be in a fight for that position with Maric, which is fine and that's his spot I feel.
Surely 5 KPD options on the list is enough, with at least 3 100% ready to plug and play in the main side at any moment
If we lose Gov we definitely need one, but Archer or Shanahan have to be strong considerations

Jack Williams is our future he is from WA and he is in and out of our team he will be back no way we should trade him.
We just have so many options, he may want guaranteed opportunity that he will get at other clubs.
If Oscar stays then Jack will not get guaranteed games for us at all, especially with Shanahan being more talented and likely pushing for a spot next year too.

Any pick we probably get for him will be eaten up by our Academy kids this year I would think. Max currency would be about 25-30 imo, which gets pushed to 30-35 with the early Academy picks.
There are players we would be interested in, young players from other clubs that we could ask for instead of picks.
Sheldrick has been mentioned as a possible straight swap(roughly) for example, maybe theres a KPD we are interested in too, perhaps Zakostelsky(I have no idea how hes tracking) + something from the Lions?

And what’s wrong in adding that to our own R2 and Hawks R2 and 3 and get one of the Suns R1 or Swans R1 or Lions R1 picks since both will need points

We then take 3 x R1 picks this year and 4 if Oscar leaves on a band 1 deal.

JWilliams might choose to go elsewhere but come on, he's not behind shanahan just yet surely

No, and not what I mean. He's currently ahead of Shanahan and on form slightly ahead of Reid. Each projects with a higher ceiling though and at least so far as Reid the coach has already signalled that he prefers what Reid brings .

HUN reporting on Will Phillips being out of contract and we are supposedly monitoring him

The former No.3 pick is among several midfielders from rival clubs who the Eagles are keeping tabs on after he signed a one-year deal to remain with the Kangaroos in September.

The signing of Luke Parker and more midfield time for Harry Sheezel has pushed Phillips further down the pecking order and has cast doubt over whether the Kangaroos would offer him a new deal.

If he chose to move interstate, a third or fourth-round pick would be enough for the Eagles to trade for Phillips as they enter a busy period of midfield rejuvenation under new coach Andrew McQualter.

I'd be happy with Phillips on our list. A much better option that Parfitt IMO. He is still only 22.

Not against Phillips as a cheap option, but how many of these failed high picks come good at their new clubs?

Haven't watched enough of him, but is he a SPS, Paddy Dow, Cale Morton 2.0?

Setterfield, Sharp, Caldwell, Scrimshaw off the top of my head. They are not A graders but inside their clubs best 23

Depends what you mean by 'come good'. Not necessarily 'high picks' but players on the outer at one club often come good at another.

-Jeremy Sharp has locked down a spot in Fremantle's B22
-Will Brodie had a career renaissance and led their midfield to a SF
  • Jarryd Lyons was B22 at Lions through most of their finals campaigns
  • Ben Keays has been a reliable B22 player at Geelong
  • Matt Deboar carved out a respectable career as a tagger at GWS
  • D'Ambrosio went from on the outer at Essendon to AA40 at Hawthorn
  • Matt Kennedy was told by Carlton to look around and looks at home at the dogs

We're currently running with a bits and pieces makeshift midfield. Will Phillips would get opportunity to lock down a B22 spot with us.

Phillips in many ways is a Jack Graham clone.

Personally I’d prefer to just develop our own mids over adding fringe level ones who aren’t definitively better, but I do rate Phillips more than some of the fringe guys talked about in here. He’s very accountable defensively.

Monitoring a number of mids at different clubs.

Our main man Dev mentioned as well as Tunstill.

The number of delistings are starting to add up.

Great news that we are monitoring a number of mids from different clubs, means the Vic biased media has picked up we are actively sniffing around.
Who knows who is on the radar, but aggressive pursuing of players is exactly what we want!

It's not what you pay its how much you got off retail. Everyone loves a discount.
Is that Bunk Moreland viewing the pusii? When I say pusii, I'm talking about Tsatas, Phillips, and all those chicks.

Love that; have been saying for a while we should be raiding North's stock of mids. Up until recently figured Tom Powell would be ideal; but that ship seems to have sailed.

He's good. But now everyone knows it. I reckon Goater goes ok, too. But I think he's rated. I'd done thing we'd be able to pick him up for a second rounder.

Was fortunate enough to chat with Jamie Cripps at training Saturday. He mentioned he was keen to go on next year, but that would definitely be his last. Is currently doing renovations to his house in Geraldton and will move back there once he finishes.

I think his form is worthy of another year, but it will depend on how the club views him moving forward.
The club sending him for an operation today tells me they are invested in keeping him for next year. Otherwise, they would have waited until after this season and then let him go.
