If the AFL actually gave us that, I’d be ok with that deal.

Highly doubt it happens though.
Honestly it’s the sort of deal the AFL may actually sign off on if it were ever to happen, as it serves as a lever to make us more competitive

Do people realise we actually won the clearances?

Our biggest issue is an inability of our mids to spread with pace and receive the easy ball or provide a viable easy outlet option to get the ball out of the backline (long down the line anyone?).

Hewett (explosive, still building a base and can't gut run yet). Graham (fantastic get, but lacks pace to get in the open), Tim Kelly (was going to say LOL, but a disrespectful I suppose - better than me), Hough (just learning mid craft, will get better), Reid (explosive, not a high fitness base and more likely a contested beast down the track), Ryan (nice in bursts through middle but looks sore and not a continuous gut runner), Brockman (C-) etc.

Oh and add in that whilst we can't seem to hit the side of a barn, we sure are elite at hitting the ground just in front of a leading player.

The more you look at it, our backs deserve massive pay rises/contract extensions and lots of bl##jobs for putting up with the how massively we cocked up our midfield.

The AvFL will tick it off, BC it's going straight to the pies, who they know are dads army and in danger of suffering the same fate we have. Any leg up to prevent the pies bottoming out is a tick for the AvFL.

Maybe but highly doubt he would look to come to the Eagles. Would likely want to chase success at a Vic club.

He could be the ruck to the Pies to release Cameron.

Hard to judge where the rucks will land

Apart from the Owies move which appeared very 'last minute', most trade targets seem arranged well ahead of time.

Surely Marshall's manager would be sounding out clubs now given the noise around TDK. Why not throw our hat into the ring? It's not as though we don't have the funds to make his eyes water.

I get he would like to head off to a competing club but which one of those dont have a set ruckman already? Adelaide & Brisbane but then he'd have to move interstate anyway.

Exactly this.

It will be along those lines, maybe even better.

I admire your optimism pants, but I can’t see the AFL giving us anything other than a couple of extra rookie list spots

There’s a lot of heat coming on them re the inequities of the draft with picks being pushed back due to FA compensation and father-son/academy kids so adding a compensation pick to the mix isn’t going to be well received. Especially to a club that has had relatively recent (2018) success whilst clubs like St Kilda and Essendon, even Carlton to an extent, swim around in mid table purgatory

Yes, we’ve been historically bad for a 4th year in a row and have a decent case for some sort of priority pick(s) but I just don’t see it happening

Ok prepare to be surprised.

Tom Morris is reporting that Lions deal is 6 years by about 750-800k.

Watch and see if that is enough for band 1 compo.

It would put us in a difficult position if we are forced to decide between pick 19 and matching a 6 year offer.

If we match, dare I say Oscar would accept and stay.

I wouldn't want to match regardless if it's a 6 year deal. He's a health risk we don't need to take given our young key forwards on the list.

Dont waste any picks below 100 on Cameron, pies pay his wages & accept pick 100 or no deal. Livingstone a much better option.

We should be asking for two things
1. Compensation similar to what North got a couple of years back for being consistently shit (3x end of first round over 2 years)
2. We and the Purples should be asking for 2-4 additional CatB rookies as part of trying to manage the additional travel burden on WA clubs.

I'd also go with perhaps 2x extra CatB + 2x top up players we pick between the main and rookie drafts (or as SSPs) who have to be 24+ and have played 3+ years in state leagues.

Imo it’s unlikey they don’t boost that to $900k if we say we are prepared to match if they want him and force a trade.

There is so no way he signs at another club to just come back to the Eagles 2 days later.

The North compo picks are the starting point.

I believe the Lions deal is actually the 850k mark, the Lions know they'll need to get us pick 2 or we'll match.

This makes a lot of rational sense.

Given that I think Oscar’s actual preference is to stay, I think lions are playing a high stakes game if they have indeed offered the 750-800. I think the last couple of weeks has revealed they’re quite desperate for a forward.

I am a bit puzzled that we haven’t heard any rumours of contract amount before Morris’ 750-800 comment today.

Also don't read into the rhetoric that the Eagles are pushing Allen out for pick 2, whilst he has a preference to stay he is very open to joining the Lions and joining a premiership contender. No sob story here.

Personally would rather see how Archer develops and continue with Flynn/BBW but really build the midfield under them

The ruck situation will work itself out with stronger, seasoned, fitter guys under them

Don't want to waste a 1st rounder on a 30 y.o

We aren't making finals for a few years so build them through together

Tom did say it is a watch if it triggers band 1 but believe it would as part of the AFL secret formula depending the injury update
