Pretty much put Oscar away for the year to make sure pick 2 is coming in and nothing stupid happens like a real season ending injury that cost might cost that pick 2.

Added bonus get some else in through the MSD that will be here for the rest of the year and at a minimum 2026.

Is there a bigger idiot in football media than Jay Clark?

I mean there’s bigger dickheads (Morris, Maclure, Barrett etc) but for sheer stupidity I think Clark has them covered

OA isn't going anywhere, he will sign a contract that we have offered him(needs to relinquish being captain), 5 years.
Tom Cole is a solid player, 3 year deal.
Jamie Cripps, 1 year extension, nobody is taking his spot yet.
Jayden Hunt, 1 year extension, nobody is taking his spot yet.
Rhett Bazzo, 1 year extension, see if he can get over his injuries and back up in def.
Tim Kelly, 1 year extension on $500K, he has been terrible but we don't have another mature body who can play midfield.
Petch, trade or delist.
Sheed, delist.
Jamieson, delist.
Chesser, delist, had plenty of opportunity and hasn't nailed down a spot.

Along with Rawlinson, delist and Barnett delist and pay out contract.
Thats a minimum 6 delistings.
Draft around 5 players with 3 NGA/FS.
Depending on what our trade plans are and MSD, we could potentially take another 2 players off our list.
If we can trade in another B+ grade mid at least or better I would be letting Kelly go.
3 year deal for Tom Cole and a 5 year deal for Oscar Allen, Jesus Christ lmao

Has anyone fallen from grace as quick as Oscar?

He was brilliant in 2023 but injuries have killed him.

Moves like a broken old truck now.

Sad to see coz he seems to want to lead the team/club.

I'm torn. Just hope if he leaves he finishes his career at the Eagles with a form boost

I know I am in the minority here but Cole is still best 22 for another couple of years and no one is taking his spot permanently in that time, more than happy for a 2 or 3 year deal for him, he wouldn't be on big $.
Again on the Allen contract, Waterman signed a 5 year contract last year and would expect Allen would be entitled to the same.
If he doesn't want our 5 year deal than WC get pick 2 FA compo pick.
Archer Reid should be trained up as a KDP player and Allen and Waterman lead our fwd line for the foreseeable future, JW is at least another 2 full years away from being a viable alternative and Shanahan is 3-4 years away.

Oscar Allen won't last 5 years for us. At best he will play 2 out of the 5 years.
A considerable factor is the travel which affects recovery, in Melbourne he won't have that issue.

Tom cole is a nothing player. Doesn't have anything to give except trying to lock down a small forward each week. His disposal is a concern and there is literally nothing special about him. He is taking up a list spot we could give to a young player to develop.
It's time to move on at the end of this season.

When you see the fat man at Freo struggling to put games in a row together, it just reinforces we can't afford to sign Oscar to a big long term deal given his injury history and age, against where we are as a list. You can't tie up so much money on a player you can't guarantee will be fit.

We did the right thing by not giving Barrass the revised longterm deal, lets hope we keep our heads and do the same with Oscar.
Posted this Friday, he misses game with late withdraw with knee issue again. Do not give this guy any long term guarantee. Let him walk.

I'm grateful for Tommy Cole's role in winning us a premiership, but surely we can let him walk. Hell we have a better replacement in Liam Baker on the list already, he's better suited down back, we can get him out of our midfield.

So much of 2025 end of season is dependant on the 1 question

Do we have the strength to be strong? By that I mean do we have the strength to bully Gold Coast into giving us assets for not biddong on their players, do we have the strength to demand a positive result from the AFL when it comes to priority picks, do we have the strength to delist contracted players?

2024 off season was nothing but a display of cowardice.... and look how its turned out. Perhaps now we will put Eagles members first as opposed to Matt Clarkes feelings and make a stance

A part of being strong I think also is. Why dont we just walk Starcevich into the PSD? What rule says we need to take him as a free agent exactly? Make him a offer that Brisbane wont match (have games played add-ons in it) and simply end up with pick 2 for Oscar and Starcevich too...

Whats this belief that we gotta give Brisbane something back exactly?

I agree, Just feel like he's one of those guys they all love and keeps them around longer
I do t give a **** if he's Mr popular and has everyone around for parties and gives out chocolate.

He can't play football. He does nothing. Most games he plays you don't even know he's on the ground until his ugly mug shows up on screen giving away a mark because he didn't spoil or comes late to the contest.

He's the most black hole player we've had.
Gravity sucking time to a non existence and not even delayed. It's a net nothing. No flavour, nothing special.
Just pure vanilla.

Bland.

So far we’re throwing millions of dollars at Brandon Starcevich (who’s one bump on the head away from being medically retired), Zach Reid and Ned Moyle.

I've never understood why Cole triggers people so much. He's just a run of the mill small defender. Surely there are other players in the team to get fired up about.
No.

"Run of the mill small defender"

In the past we've had small defenders that actually play and have impact.

Like
Adam Selwood.
Beau waters
Wirrpanda
David hart.

These are run of the mill small defenders

The bolded were not run of the mill. They were fantastic players.

Adam Selwood was more run of the mill when he moved from the midfield to the backline. He was just too slow.
