Why? Its going to be another shit show. We will give up pick 14 and extras for Darcy Cameron, split pick 2 and give Neil Erasmus a 4 year deal.

People here will clap about how its still a win and do a complete 180 from their previous position. Rinse and repeat
Well the games aren't doing it so need something to get excited about and if we can snag some good kids or a trade and refresh Im all for it

Last years off season was more depressing then the actual football season in reality. I dont really see how this one doesnt follow the same path. We have set up a culture of terrible decision making because decisions come without consequence.

The Harley captaincy talk is a little bit embarrassing. I imagine the purple lurkers are having a wonderful giggle at it.

I think he is a future captain - he’s vocal, he leads by example, he gives a shit and shows it. But he’s far too young and under too much scrutiny to be given the captaincy.

I’d give it to Baker, with a view to Harley being the next captain after him - probably with a Hurn-to-Shuey style transition before Baker retires.

Well at the time it was fine. Plenty of optimism.

The games come and crush that.

So simply avoid playing football.

Which is what we've been doing really

The optimism came from those who are too blinded by reality to accept the reality. A fair few of us looked at that off season and saw us heading down this path.

True.

Anyway see what happens.

No one could foresee Waterman being out fir most of the year or Gov concussion retired etc

Even just those 2 in we look a bit more settled.

Anyway fresh start

Captain is just a name tag. You can call Baker captain but it doesnt mean he is one though. We are many years away from having a captain.

Only path to getting a captain would be to say trade in Ollie Wines or some crap

thought there was a strong offer in front of McVee from WC?
We’d be interested in him definitely and I hope it’s heavy. Freo look to have their backline sorted would be surprised if they went after him. Massive McVee fan, he has been one I’ve been waiting to be OOC since late 2023 and this is the year.

With hough playing more midfield lately McVee would slot into his lockdown role who can also push up to half back. Allows Hough to be flexible with his position in defence then into the middle.

The issue is though what would Melbourne be asking for. Let’s just say we eventually ask the question for a priority package, and receive the end of first round priority pick (same thing as north couple years ago) we use that for McVee and go from there. Happy to hear thoughts and what not but definitely one we’d benefit from heavily.

Baker is pretty much the Defacto Captain this year. Only one of the senior players that digs in and leads by example. Gets amongst the lads, and for whatever reason seems to be predominantly used in marketing content the club pumps out.

It's embarrassing for Duggan and Allen that an outsider has waltzed in and pulled the rug out from underneath them. Baker would be odds on favorite to be chosen as the Captain next year.

The two Hawks picks we have this year need to go to the crows to hopefully try and get Curtin back home.

Use as that big bodied midfielder to help out Reid and Hewitt

We need a leads by example when it comes to training not handballing it to the ground and butchering the ball week in week out :(

Issues start at training and we need a solution there. Cant fix the team til we fix our training standards

Part of mcvee wanting to leave the dees is to not have to play a lockdown role

Cuz was made co-captain with Kempy at age 23.

Who do you think HR9 would be a good fit with, and at 21 next year, would it be too much responsibility too soon?
In the 6-man leadership group next year.
Dual vice captain in 2027 with either Ginbey or Hough under Baker.
Co-captain with Ginbey/Hough when Baker's reign as captain finishes?

Why would they take that lol, its a long way off being fair.
I dont think they'd even take pick 2 right now for Curtin
They will if he wants to leave, it’s never fair when a good player wants to go home. They took him knowing he had strong ties in the west so was always a risk for them. It’s not like Freo are going to be able to offer anything better either.

oh man we are no chance of prying him out now, not without a 1st rounder minimum

He's on fire

Didn't he just sign a contract extension with Adelaide?

James Hird preaching that the Eagles don't desserve any draft help is amusing because they bought it on themselves.

Essendon got a number one draft pick, under his watch, due to one of the worst doping scandals in sporting history and i'm sure he gladly accepted that.

Fitting in the end they wasted it on McGrath when there were better players available

On the topic of rucks, is there any reason Archer Reid can't become a full time ruck?

203cm so has the height. Athletic, great skills, good footy IQ.
Can't be that hard to teach him ruck craft?
too light at the moment.

May be able to do spells in the ruck but would be beaten down with longer spells over the longer term.

VicMedia group think on display with bells and whistles.

It's a wonder they cannot form their own opinion.

He's young, fair to say he'll put the muscle on as his body matures.
