I think it's because WA is producing poorer talent overall, which has partly undone us, because we typically prefer drafting WA players if we rate them similarly to interstate options.

WA needs a major AFL pathway/talent development re-think & overhaul.
Mainly because our scouts haven't identified some WA gold and they've gone to eastern states club's.

Agree greatwhiteshark that whatever senior player we get in must be available every week.

That automatically put the highlight pen through the injury prone Mitchell and Duncan suggestions from Bartel.

If the senior players we chase aren’t durable then it’s pointless chasing them.

As bog average as Dev is, I would prefer him because of his availability, to Tom Mitchell by way of example.
This.

If a player is Melbourne based and already injury prone, adding our travel load is hardly likely to end well.

Kind of wondering what St Kilda would give us for pick 1. Probably not worth it for us but after their comments earlier this year it would be funny to see them place three or four sequential bids with the top pick. Really hammer home the bullshit.
Clubs coached by Ross Lyon don't value or trade for picks, they trade out picks for players. That has been Lyon's consistent MO. He is not interested in developing, he wants to make life easier for himself in the present by paying silly premiums to buy off the shelf rather than draft. So i don't think they would be interested in making a serious offer for a high pick.

Willem Duursma is pretty comfortably the number 1 pick for me

The potential upside is insanely high, has everything you’d want in an elite midfield prospect.

Duursma and Sharp at 1 and 2 or splitting 2 if you think Sharp’s going to slide a bit seems like the play.
I've got Duursma at 2 behind Sharp at the moment. I need to see Duursma at VFL level. Sharp and Cumming have held their own at SANFL level. At the moment, I'm taking Sharp at 1 and, if the opportunity presents, I'm splitting 2 to get Cumming and someone else highly rated ahead of selecting Duursma.

Talks of essendon targeting zane duursma from North and trying to get pick 1 for will duursma.

They have picks

Three first round picks, three NGAs and four mature bodies is 10 changes. Reckon we could do that and still have some dead wood to cut next year, as harsh as that sounds.
The deadwood on the list is only playing for the Beagles , so why not chop it down now why delay the inevitable
We need to bring in fresh young talent, shift Cole, Kelly, Duggan and Cripps to playing/development coaches at the Beagles. The Beagles won't get any better unless we invest time and money into the list.

Would we consider taking the remaining three years of jack vineys contract. I've heard dees don't want him - salary dump. He would be that hard nut insider for Harley. Durable. Teach the kids.
Goodwin sacked. What ripple affect on the playing group will this have. Time to be asking questions of mcvee rivers viney

Softest supporters on the whole forum by a long way.
Actually I read through most of the "bluemour" thread and found nearly everyone pretty reasonable. More reasonable than some of the folks around here sometimes! There was of course one guy getting fired up about us being forced to give away the farm for Cripps, but most of the other users realised a mid to late first round would probably get it done.

Get Oliver for a cheap pick. Put a clause in his contract that if he plays up he spends a week in a pillory in Hay Street mall with fresh fruit provided to the public daily.

What price Kysaiah Pickett?

You need to delist / trade out 12 for that including McGovern & Sheed. Then the club has no-one to delist next year. It's in essence cutting everyone not with a contract already plus Barnett.
