Quick Links

List Changes - 2025
In:
  • Brandon Starcevich arrives at West Coast in a three team deal
  • Tylar Young (Richmond) arrived at West Coast in exchange for Pick 38.
  • Deven Robertson (Brisbane) has agreed to join West Coast and will be signed on to the rookie list after being delisted by Brisbane
Out:
  • Oscar Allen joins Brisbane as a FA - West Coast receive Pick 2 as compensation
  • Liam Ryan and a 2027 R3 pick has been traded to St Kilda for a 2026 R2 pick
  • Campbell Chesser has been traded to Carlton for Pick 41
  • Jayden Hunt announces retirement
  • Jack Petruccelle, Callum Jamieson and Loch Rawlinson not offered new contracts
  • Coen Livingstone joins the list of players not offered a new contract

Players Out of Contract - 2025 (0)
  • Jamie Cripps and Malakai Champion seem to have been offered new contracts despite there being no official announcement. Means that all players out of contract for 2025 have been given new contracts despite or removed from the playing list

2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

Still not enough spots if Dev is traded in rather than added as a rookie later, or if we trade in an extra player.
We need to take min 3 players in the ND + prepare for the possibility of having to match bids on Banfield & Williams.
We'll need to delist at least 1-2 more players from the main list imo.

There's Cripps, Barnett and Johnston who could all be shifted rookieward with little difficulty. If that's required.

Curious how quickly we turn on our own! The guy is just trying to get through life, will have a family and mortgage like everyone else. Footy and trade is an ever-evolving landscape.
I feel a bit for him - I suspect his desire would have been to play on with the club he grew up supporting, but he'd be very aware of his body's limitations, and that his best bet for his future was to take up Brisbane on their offer. The move might be the change that he needs, but it's certainly the one that gives him the most personal certainty.

Hope if Brissie go the threepeat he's one of the players out there getting a medal.

Jon Ralph said 34 won’t be used for Young in a trade as well.

Hough got his first mention over east as well
Richmond don't have a pick after 2 and 3 and likely will draft Richmond father-son Louis Kellaway.
most probably a later pick will do. Sounds like he won't be at the pointy end.

I don’t wish him ill health, just ill form. Glad the club stuck with not overpaying him.

Today works out a win for both (especially us with pick 2) and hope he misses a flag and catches the end of his career at a declining club ideally. Go eagles! 🦅

I’d be going for a F2
Unless we need a further pick for an upgrade or draftee I would be pushing both Chesser and Ryan into 2026 draft.
Only reason we would need either is if we are keen on someone in the 1st round and trying to get another top 10 pick, making 4 top 10 picks!

Could not agree more and hope we are open to splitting to maximise first rounders this shallow draft and do a Richmond-lite from last year

Leaving Gold Coast’s picks 7 and 8 and Carlton’s pick 10 aside for now, because they are likely going to be involved in future trades.

Bids on Uwland, Patterson, Annable and Dean are set to eat picks 15, 17, 18, 22, 23. And it’s probable Gold Coast make a deal with 7 that results in another 1-2 picks being eaten in the top 25. Bids on Sweid and King could eat picks 27 and 30 and 32.

So could be 9-10 picks burned to match bids on 6 players in the top 30.

That would mean our picks 34 and 38 actually end up more like 30 and 34.

...which is actually not that exciting now that I’ve written it out.

Swaddling, Threadgold, Rodriguez and Dalton are some of the names that have made it to these picks in some mocks and power rankings. This is a very valid point and will be worth considering in trades. Pick 52 will probably move up to around 42 all said and done. So might be worth something after some of the matching is done.

This post gives me bitter old man vibes.
This post gives me weak - anti competition let’s all be friends and hold hands vibes.

He wanted more cash and another club in a far different position were willing to honour that so he went. It’s all good but not exactly a club legend with one decent year despite many years of promise, and now he plays for a side I don’t particularly like.

In amongst the rollercoaster of emotions about how we all feel about Matt Clarke, noones really tipped their cap to his decision not to pony up for Oscar and retain him. There's an argument it's good for the culture to continue being the good guys who don't lose players but in terms of building us a list to not be so putridly dog shit in years to come, this was an astute bit of business.

I am ok with players leaving the club, I just hope they never win a premiership at their new club.
If the Eagles aren't winning the premiership (and we aren't next year), I'm fine with ex-Eagles finding some success, as long as they are not with Drug Rats, BODE, Hawthorn or Collingwood.
