I am loving the clubs fighting back against managers. Been a long time coming. Particularly like SOS telling Mackie to EAD.

Have to get on the phone to Ah Chee immediately, up Crows offer and take him #1 PSD.
Yeah, same here. Lots to like from the last half hour.

Sydney made a good offer for Curnow - three first round picks and a good, dependable player in Will Hayward.

Hawthorn tried to lowball Essendon with a worse offer which only included one player who they clearly don't value at all, and they got told to get stuffed. Merrett's manager should be pissed off at the Hawks, not the Bombers. Gold Coast and Sydney stepped up and made good enough offers to get the deal done; Hawthorn tried to get their guy by poisoning the well at Essendon and they flopped.

Good riddance.

We’ve got 4 weeks to convince Ah Chee to move further west than he originally planned

It’s a free swing now

I bet Brad Scott had a fair bit do with not trading Merrett. He could get sacked if there is another bad year next year. From the outside it looks like some people at the club were prepared to trade and some weren't. Thats why they were still talking to Hawthorn right up to the end.

optics aside, Essendon were a bit silly for not taking the deal

Carlton have done well.
Melbourne have done well.
I think we did well.
St Kilda went… hard, very hard. If they don’t get it right they’ll be where we are now in 2030.

Hawthorn and Essendon have both self owned. Gold Coast have also had a mare.

GC did fine.

They still get 2 top 10 picks this year - and they get Petracca and JUH.

They got Pick 7 for Sam Flanders for gods sake - was he even in their top 5 mids?

Surely Ah Chee ends up at WC

You gotta at least ask the question. Tack a few zero's on the end and if he says he isn't interested then move on. So much for the 'we want to get better now' line they were trotting out towards the end of this season, weren't interested in Steele, didn't throw their hat in the ring for anyone other than Ah Chee before he made his choice of club.

Can't wait for a month straight of 'West Coast will trade pick 1/2 on draft night' now.

I reckon the Petracca deal and to a lesser extent the Curnow deal made it impossible for Essendon to accept that.

And Hawthorn? I hope it was fun acting the c*nt because you've been made to look a right c*nt.

I only hope, this splits Essendon internally and the Hawks slip backwards.

They paid an absolute mortgage and a half for Petracca

Carlton win the trade period , back in the rock n roll of the AFL now .
It's very good business. You're not winning a flag so to get a middle-age player and upgrade three second rounders to first rounders is solid work.

Amazing that Merrett is stuck at Essendon.

Gotta give our boys at tbe Bombers credit - they have definitely put pride first and valued sticking it to the Hawks more than a golden chance to cash in a wantaway 30 year old when they are staring right down the barrel of a rebuild.

They'll all be jobless in 12 months.
They have a great draft hand already. Picks 5 and 6, as well as picks in the 20's. I reckon they were right to refuse. Hawks should have offered more.
