I don't follow the draft that closely, so can someone please explain...

... why are most draft pundits rating CDT in the Top 5 (even higher when you take out academy kids), but we've got Bigfooty posters basically calling him the second coming of Bailey Williams?
200cm tall that is top ten in 20sec sprint and 2km time trial plus has performed well in all comps. But highlights show hes not a dominant ruckman in the juniors and not a priority need as a forward. Sux. I want 2 mids but looks like we would be stupid not to get Duursma and CDT which are unanimously picks 1 and 2. I'm conflicted as I desperately want us to address the midfield but we also should take the best 2 picks. And I would be happy to split pick 2 for some lesser players that are def mids.

And CDT is no Bailey Williams. Could be our best pick in the draft if he can become a competent ruckman. I do see the massive upside of having a forward/ruckman that can dominate around the ground. All he needs to do is not get beaten in the ruck taps to be a great pickup. He could be scary good around the ground as a 200cm midfielder.

Complement A Reid in the ruck and Shanahan can play forward or back as required while building his craft.
Walter is the Waterman replacement in 3 years and would take precedent over Shanahan.
JW will be decent depth player.

Trade period is over. Why are we still talking about Walter. Would love him but that ship has sailed.

He's yet to sign another contract and his initial one ends next year. Prepare yourself for another 12 months of it. I reckon he'll more likely come here than stay at GC.

Your whole argument is based on your own bias. The argument that she would bring in a more biased opinion is just your own feeling.

No BC Tim English is 8cm taller. At 208cm English gets away with an ordinary running jump. Harder to disguise at 200 with an jump
The last update on CDT was that he is now 204cm, same as Tim English in hid draft year. So lack of hieght is not really a valid argument.

looked at his VFL and talent league videos and he is a great mark. Has the speed to separate and gets in good positions. A number of slick hand off's for goals.

I don't see why you don't like him. Am I missing something?

If we get supply inside 50 next year, by having a functioning midfield, I can see Shanahan kicking 45 goals next year.

In a world of hypotheticals and the guys who live and breathe this shit;

*We have Pick 1 in 2026.
*Walters plays less that 5 games for GCS
*Dougie Cochrane has the best year leading into a draft a player can ask for.

Are we picking Dougie, and trading in Walters?

And adding abit of spice does this affect any planning for the Mini-Draft (Tasmania) for Axel?

Thing about Walter is he could just as easily have a bumper season in 2026, establish himself in Fold Coasts side and suddenly he costs the world.

Feel 2025 was the better time to have a throw at the stumps for him given he was 'disgruntled' not in their best 22 and with the impending arrival of JUH.

That said, in the unlikely even his 2026 plays out much like his 2025 season did, he's going to be cheap as chips. Hopefully Suns go on a bit of a run and have a settled line up through King and Reid and JUH pulls his finger out in the VFL.

If he plays 15 games and kicks 30 goals it would be a massive year for him, remember he basically replaced Waterman so 2 of them in the FWD line he isn't going to kick more than Waterman.

One for the "Ugh can't believe we never ask the question - classic West Coast" crowd

The West Australian understands the Eagles asked the question about a potential move for Marshall — who requested a trade to Geelong — but their approach was never entertained.

This kind of thing would happen every year but we just don't play out our recruitment targets in the media like a certain poos and wees club does.
