I'm out of the loop regarding Oliver's offield behaviour that makes him so undesirable.
I know there were mental health issues, but that usually garners sympathy and not scorn.

Can anyone fill me in?
He’s more of a 2006 than a 2026 Eagle if you catch my drift.

Yep like the addition of Dev, smart choice by him over the Doggies. Kicking is his worry but will give his all at crash and bash centre bounce stuff and is plenty of solid pre seasons. Too good for state league but will he be an AFL player? He’s about to get his chance and will have no excuses.

Young seems like a perfect buy low addition. From all reports will be plug and play as our KPD. Richmond fans not happy to lose him.

If the Starcevich trade happens it will be interesting to see where we go to next.

Ruck and another ready made mid would be handy. Tom Berry seems to be linked and probably happens now we missed on Butler.

Backs best 23 imo look AFL finals ready if Young can fill that role. Edwards looks at the level but probably still has a question mark.
Starcevich ✅- H Edwards❓Ginbey✅
Hough✅ - Young❓-McCarthy/Baker ✅

I think our forwards can do the job with supply.

If they can get that midfield up and about it would be huge.

Clarry would fit right in at Hawthorn

Injunction

Problem solved

Sounds like King turned the light on for them

North dumped all their experienced players to invest in their youth, and it stalled the club for several years.

Richmond offloaded their players and (so far) looks like they have accelerated their rebuild... but fair to say, the jury is still out.

Offloading (or letting go of) Petracca, Oliver, McVee and May is letting a lot of experience walk out the door. That's a heck of a risk.

I wonder if having Mini and Sam Radford in our coaching department persuades the club to go after Clarry. They would no doubt be confident that they could get the best out of him
Possibly… or they know what he put that playing group and club through and want to steer very clear.

Yeah change our entire draft strategy because we’re picking up a 24 year old with 47 career games, a lot of which were sub impacted.

Sounds sensible
Actually the Robertson acquisition makes a case for picking sharp if we can trade back into the top 10 somehow... As he has time to now develop and not be expected to carry the load in his first season.

Definitely not in the first couple of picks though!.. duursma Robey all the way

Alternatively they may tell the club to stay the **** away from him.

At least we have two people at the club with first hand knowledge of what Oliver’s problems were/are and will have an idea as to whether he’s worth speaking to
Could be a Jess Hogan situation, get out of Vic and reinvigorate.

Melbourne will be an interesting watch. McVee, Petracca, Oliver and May all possible departures.

Current draft hand is poor - 24, 55 and 60.

McVee a likely R2 (Dockers have 11, 30, 39)
Petracca will not get them multiple R1 unless Dees eat huge salary % (apparently the 4 years are heavily back ended)
Oliver will be a win IF they just get him off the books (5 years at $1mln ++) and "off field" issues
May is at best a late R2

Sounds like King turned the light on for them

Sounds like he's set fire to the place.

We should have done this DD before his knock as its always been the risk. This is alarming tbh.

To be fair, it would be difficult to be doing any significant level of due diligence prior to now as Starcevich was preparing to play in a GF

Bit harsh on Hogan, bloke was photographed smoking cigarettes after being diagnosed with cancer and a death in the immediate family.

Clarry is a far more dangerous situation IMO.
Pre-draft knock on Oliver was literally lack of professionalism (bloke was in poor shape) and here we are

Hogan was very much on drugs as well.
