2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

Few free agents to get down tomorrow but
Brisbane has two key free agents to lodge but looks more likely to lodge deals for Sam Draperand Oscar Allen deeper into the free agency window, which runs until next Friday, October 10.

Few games being played by the looks

How come our assistance pick was called and "end of 1st round" yet gets bumped down by other end of 1st round compo picks?

Shouldn't it still be ladder order?

I wouldn’t call it strong but it’s definitely looking stronger than this one. There’s a lot of good WA talent from top to bottom too.

Assuming we get F2 for Ryan and F2 for Chesser and same ladder positions all of the following are WA boys apart from
Dougie who we should find out about today

1-Dougie Cochrane
19-Benji Van Rooyen
25-Garrison Kenh (NGA match)
26-Health Mellody
37-Lachlan McGlade (NGA match)
55-Harper Banfield (FS match)

Leo Steed is also a floater that could go in a huge range.
I feel like Kenh (with a year of development projected) would have been a first rounder this year.

I guess one of the benefits of the 2026 class being relatively strong would be pushing our NGAs back in the order, making it easier to match bids.

I can’t imagine we are trading in more than 3 guys. Ergo a ruck and berry outside of ssp seem unlikely.

Assuming BS joins us that’s 4 Main list sports (assuming Cripps is main list) left.

Given we have 5 picks inside the top 20 + nga/fa who likely get bid on, we have our work cut out for us already to get the list in a position to achieve our draft goals. Getting any other trades in makes it almost a certainty we lose one of banfield/evans/williams.

Barnett, HJ and Bazzo/cripps to RL need to happen already imo.
Yeah interesting how they are going to do it, I think we are going to try and add more mature players somehow.

Cripps to rookie list is a likely outcome.

Dev being delisted and picked as a rookie like Prior and Narkle last year is a chance.

Tom Berry I think will be rookie list if we go down that route. (Or Murdoch. Blamires)

Rookie list of Newton, McCarthy, Brock, Hutchinson, Cripps, Dev, Berry, ruck (Soldo?).

Cat b Champion and hope one gets through of Walley or Evans?

Not sure how many picks that leaves plus 3 NGA/FS.

Kenh is hard to place, high ceiling low floor type but only takes one club to take a risk on the high ceiling early. Very athletic and a pretty good performance in the futures game. Monocle has watched him live a couple of times and has made some thoughtful and thorough comments on his game.

You’re probably right about pushing 1R this year with that extra 12 months of development. 👍

Riley and Cal also indicating they think the Eagles are in front for the Dev race due to the work we have done over a period of time.

I like the stall ( and rightly so ), shows that we might just be learning how to trade and manage trades better.

Also like the Asterix The Gaul move learn from Hawthorn last year and trade out the end of first round pick that Brisbane are eyeing early in trade week.

Because here is the thing we can pick him up for free at the trade period by walking him to the PSD.

So offer the Hawks third for Dev and Starc.

Time we played the game and don’t just act like schmucks all the time.

Gonna be awkward if Melbourne tell May and Oliver to explore their options, there turns out to be no options and they both end up back at the club in November.

They are both total dickheads so it wouldn’t surprise. Would like to see May go for the record of being punched by three different teammates at three different clubs though.

Would almost be worth getting him to WCE and bringing Chicky back to fill one of the extra rookie list spots for a year.

11 spots - 7 main, 4 rookie

Move Cripps to rookie list to make it an 8/3 split

• Young and Starcevich traded onto main list
• Use 4 early draft picks
• Match likely bid on Banfield and one of either Evans or Williams if/when one comes

Rounds out the 8 main list spots

• Add Robertson to rookie list as an agreed SSP signing plus one other mature aged player - Berry, Tunstill, Blimares, Murdoch or anyone else you care to think of
• Would leave one spot open:
- Williams or Evans if one gets through the main draft without a bid or
- Wes Walley or
- Another mature aged player or
- An unexpected slider from the main draft

Delisting Livingstone would open up a Cat B spot for either Walley or Evans/Williams as an alternative option for them

5-Lucas Dravitzki (SF/2009)
6-Kobe Lam (EP/2009)
10-Josh Nathan (EF/2008)
17-Zack Hately (P/2008

AFL Indigenous
11-Xavier Little (PT/2009)
14-Lachlan McGlade (EP/2008)

Further to the above and courteously of WA talent expert Futbolista a chance to look at Kenh in half an hour.

At the start of the trade period I'd go to saints and suggest this. Do a hawks as someone suggested & use those picks in a different trade so they are out of play.

STK - RYAN, 15, 19
WCE - 7, F2

It's Basically Ryan for a F2 & then Saints use 15 & 19 for Flanders if he chooses them or for there other moving parts.

GC would then have the points they need as they would need for match bids & still likely have enough to get Petrecca done if he wants to go there.

I'm not against sliding back from pick 2 with say Essendon for 5 & 23. Would then try & send 32 for Starc & then 50 for Young. Dev can be a Delisted FA

Would also have some potential currency from the Chesser trade from Carlton which could maybe be 37 or a F2 or we could maybe package up Chesser with 18 & 23 for Carltons TDK compo pick 9 if they think Dean will be bid on before that.

Would give us.

1, 5, 7, 18, 23, Starc, Dev, Young this year & then 2 extra F2's the following year.

Wow the Melbourne board is wild

Pick 5 from essendon for Oliver

Pick 6 and 7 for petracca

Gws will get Oliver IMO it will be a jesse hogan type deal

Friend of mine who taught Dev at Aquinas reckons he had a massive ego and likely struggled with the reality check of arriving into a stacked Brisbane midfield. Says if he keeps the ego in check and knuckles down, he could well exceed our expectations and become an important cog for us. Here's hoping. Not super relevant information but it confirms what I already thought of him, which is that he's full of himself. He's also pretty talented though, so I hope he puts it all together in the blue and gold.

I realise this

Just wondering how it works logically

Logic and the AFL rarely meet but I assume it’s because they rank end of R1 FA compensation picks as a higher category than end of R1 priority picks

Not necessarily logical but like I said the Venn diagram of the AFL and logic would be two separate circles

Being given extra list spots is going to materially improve our Beagles side (you'd bloody hope), especially if we list experience guys. I fear we'll then just say look we fixed it, all good now, instead of doing something sustainable to fix the shambles that is our reserves side. Otherwise our 2s will be back to square one once our beggar period is over.

If this is true, reckon his ego has well and truly diminished running around in the Magoo's for 2 years.
