List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)

I feel like Kenh (with a year of development projected) would have been a first rounder this year.

I guess one of the benefits of the 2026 class being relatively strong would be pushing our NGAs back in the order, making it easier to match bids.

Players develop at different rates. Kenh is incredibly talented and athletic. He could develop hugely next year and we're talking a 10-20 player in the draft or he could stay as he is or regress and go undrafted. Whatever way he goes I don't think it matters as he will be drafted as a project. He will almost certainly need 3-4 years in the system before he's ready to win his position week in, week out. So considering draft age we're talking 2029 which would be slightly early or more likely 2030.

Kenh is another one of the reasons why there should be no list cap on players (say you have 50). If these guys take years to develop and you pay the salary floor then it's fine trying to develop that talent over 4-5 years. If you have a list cap of 42 then it potentially means these guys are pushed too hard, too soon and don't make it.

Also who was the dickhead who said Evans had off field issues, it's the first i've heard of it and indigenous football development is what I do. (I'm not saying i'm any good or should be a recruiter but it is what I do)

Speaking of simmo, i was in carlisle yesterday and got a whopper meal from his HJ franchise.

I must say whilst the burger was standard for your get em in and out. The chips were on point and the staff were very courteous and polite and actually smiled at you.

Simmo must be hiring private school boys and girls.

Did you chuck the Whopper straight on the bitumen outside the restaurant before eating it?

Riley and Cal also indicating they think the Eagles are in front for the Dev race due to the work we have done over a period of time.

I'm a few pages late to the party on this, but surely the Eagles aren't that dumb as to dilute a band 1 compo pick #2 down to a band 2 or 3 pick #19, blowing out to #25+?

Extra rookie spots means extra swings.
If we keep Livingstone who has been serviceable and will only improve, we can add a legitimate ruck in Caleb May (West Adelaide).

Honestly wrapped with this. I promise if you watch Brisbane every week, you’ll see why the club is so into Starcevich. Quite possibly the best small/medium forward stopper in the league (and capable of playing defensive mid if required). Yes, concussion history is a worry but as long as games based triggers are there for later years of contracts then I think it’s a risk worth taking.

Gonna be awkward if Melbourne tell May and Oliver to explore their options, there turns out to be no options and they both end up back at the club in November.

There are options for Oliver and Petracca. May TBC.

The issue for Melbourne is those options aren't great for Melbourne. Petracca was All Australian and B&F winner in 2023. Oliver did that double in 2022. We're now talking about a 29 and 28 year old going into 2026. And May is turning 34. I get the feeling Melbourne look at it as a choice between keeping the guys they have or hitting the draft with a bunch of early picks but I can't see the offers being that good. Best case you get Port's pick out of Gold Coast or a couple of firsts out of Adelaide who just won 18 games for Petracca who is the one they don't want to get rid of.

Charlie Curnow had a poor second half of the year but is still an elite key forward. Zach Merrett has been consistently good for a decade. These guys just want a fresh start and to play for teams that aren't shit. Their clubs aren't Moe-ing them out the door like Melbourne.

Maybe clubs will start to clue in to long term huge money contracts being a dumb idea. Doubt it.

Completely expected, but once it was announced the compo pick didn't have to be traded thought we might grow a pair

Dev must be thrown in with it surely

Need Dev to be delisted so we can take him as a rookie. **** I hope we’re smart enough to tell Brisbane and Dev that.

Does anyone have any intel on Jy Simpkin?

Cal Twomey said on FF last night that we would love him but he doesn’t want to head west. Any truth to that?

The pick will end up at about 45, but even still I’d like to see them at least start with a harder bargain.

Not too fussed in the long run, Starcevich is bloody good and that pick is getting pushed to the shadow realm so we move. Will be good to get it done and fingers crossed he stays healthy for everyone’s sake.

They are tanking. They are ripping the bandaid off and trying to get in before Tassie start ****ing the draft. They aren't trading their F1.
Well they're certainly not getting much better if they're trading out their best two midfielders.

Wouldn't be the first time either. Wonder if they've ever contemplated just folding instead of tanking.
