2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

Really the perfect outcome for us would be Sydney swooping in with another band 1 kpf free agent steal. They get a solution for their forward line woes without giving up draft capital, we get pick 2, and Brisbane suddenly lose all leverage over us.

Doubt sydney want to cop another trade ban though.

As I have been saying for months… Willem would be very happy to come to Perth or “wherever”.

“I’ve spoken to Xav a fair bit about it,” Duursma said.

“He loved going to Adelaide when he got drafted. So going interstate isn’t really a big thing for us. It’s also good having my siblings to use them for advice. I always talk to them about anything footy related and they always give it to me straight.

“I’ve had a fair bit of experience in Perth and I do like it over there. It’s nice. As a country boy, you know you’re going to move away from home regardless. So whether that’s Perth, Melbourne, I’m pretty happy to go wherever.”

What are you and your boyfriend on about now? Anymore than a polony sandwich for Liam Ryan is in our favour.
It’s much more likely to be accidentally correct at least a couple of times, so this consistent track record of being wrong on every single player evaluation is really quite the sight to behold. Hats off to you for beating the odds I guess.

The only reason there is any concern about giving up what will eventually be pick 25 odd for Starcevich is the worry his brain could fall out of his skull.

25 for him is probably unders. Seriously being undersold as a player.
Tend to agree.

We won't be able to project where the priority pick will land until after trade week... but it's possible it gets blown way out.

Four fairly certain first round compo picks for Allen, De Koning, Draper and Silvagni, which push pick 19 back to pick 23.

Then it gets complicated with FS and Academy picks.

There are four certain early bids in Uwland, Patterson, Anable and Dean… but as it stands now, those bids will eat later first rounds picks, so they aren’t a straight addition to the early draft order as they have been in previous seasons.

However, if those clubs trade back for points, or if some of those first round picks are traded for players (likely the case for Gold Coast with Petracca) then those bids push pick 19 further back.

The final complication is the likes of King, Sweid, Addinsall, Ison etc. There are probably 5-6 academy players who are projected somewhere between 20-30. It could be that all of them are bid on before the priorty pick, but it's almost just as likely that none of them are.

I would tentatively say pick 19 on the day is actually pick 26-29.

But it’s not unfeasible for it to be something like 32-33.

Which is kind of a bargain price for a player like Starcevich IMO.

We get melty because we miss out on what we were never getting. There has never been a reason that the Suns will definitely trade pick 7 to us.

Never been actual links to Neale, Bont, Flanders, Davies ect ect.

It’s mostly all made up in here and then everyone loses their minds when it doesn’t happen.

We won’t win trade week or the draft in the way most in here want it to happen because most of our proposals are pie in the sky stuff.
Righto mate, whatever you say.

Next you'll say thay, ol' fumbleballs Clarke wasn't physically pulled away and put into timeout after a pithy tongue lashing from consultant Phil because he couldn't close Matt Owies - please.

all these free agency picks are going ahead of our pick 19 anyway. That pick is going to end up being about 25 or 26
I bet it ends up at twenty f-all. Coincidentally, a new number that was invented and given to us by the AFL as part of our package.

Probably not the worst offender, but key word waterman can give people a laugh on this forum.

That's the reaction now. We'll see how he feels in a few days when his agent is picking up contract extension offers from other clubs, and he's facing down the prospect of leading the inside midfield for their VFL side for the better part of the season if he ends up in RTB's doghouse.

Not for the 2025 version that closed this season. We can pretty much single handedly thank the Worpedo that our Hawks pick didn’t blow out to 17/18.
Yeah not a world beater but played every week in a midfield that made a Prelim. In his prime (even though his real prime might be his first few years of his career)

Averages 20d 5t and 5c in some
Sub affected games. Did turn it over or got caught too many times. Percentages are low you find his replacement with that pick.

Do we even have enough list spots to pursue Steele with Young, Robertson and Starcevich already coming in?

I realise how back to front that statement is.
If Dev is on the main list, it would currently only allow us to draft 3 players and put the 3 NGA's and Banfield on the rookie list.
This will be further complicated if we choose to match a Banfield or NGA bid meaning they'll occupy a main list spot.
We'll need to delist more players, which shouldn't be a massive problem. Cut Barnett and/or Owies early for example.
