I didn’t think the AFLPA would actually get involved, but Dangerfield has to be the worst players rep.

It shouldn’t be one of the top 10 players in the comp, should be someone more middle of the pack but a strong leader.

Completely agree. You'd want someone in the back half of their career that is more like Schoey a couple of years ago but maybe a bit more secure in his list spot.

I'd say Chris Paul in the NBA has been poor for similar reasons. Getting a super max contract isn't a concern for the vast majority of good players in the NBA, let alone all other NBA players.

I agree totally . I don't think Cameron is worth 950k a season and goes against Geelongs we don't over pay anyone policy .

They forked out that much so GWS won't match .

Geelong are now stuck overpaying and paying in draft picks .

I feel they still come out on top unfortunately.

Cameron getting paid more than Kelly but its worth more at the trade table!

Coleman medalists don't grow on trees and tend to be valued higher than A grade mids.

Younger players usually get a base salary and additional payments for senior appearances.

Because of the Geriatric Cats, young players will not be getting games and they can make some savings there.

Lets be really honest here, Geelong have been into Cameron for three years now and when you do that, you need to have a long term strategy in mind to get a deal done.

I don't for one minute doubt that the Cameron plan was front and foremost in The Dick Eaters, KELLY trade strategy as to just what they would need from us to help the Cameron deal get done a year out from the Kelly move.

It's partly why they played such hard ball two years ago with us, as they gambled that either Kelly would have a change of heart and stay, OR if he left they could get forward currency for a Cameron poach.
Like wise why they did the future first round trade with GC last year.
After last years draft the Dick Eaters had three first rounders at their disposal, to then ramp up the sell to Cameron as being able to get a deal done.

Geelong are a very well run Club and despite how we like trash talking Wells, he is a very shrewd and cunning operator.

The brains trust at Geelong would have planned for GWS to match and have a fall back position.

It was always an unreal expectation of the Geelong nuffies to think they would land Cameron and still hold on to their three first rounders.

As they say nothing fuels disappointment like expectation.

Reality Check.

Wells will get a deal and Cameron will be at Geelong next year, but they will loose at least two of their first rounders and some.

There's no way Crouch is worth a band 1 compo pick, absolutely nuts that some thought they would get it. However its a but suss how they weren't even offered band 2 (end of first round).

So what about Hickey and next yr second rounder for Swans' 24.
Then swap 24 and our existing second rounder 33 for Bulldogs' 14, as it's a slight points upgrade for them which they'll need to match for Ugle-Hagen.
Pick 14 becomes about 18 by the time Academy Bids come in. Use this for Jack Caroll (hope he's still there).
