The endorsement of Witherden from a couple of Brisbane posters on here has me a bit concerned tbh. Suiting West Coasts "possession" style maybe the problem. We need alternatives to our game plan, not more of the same. I realise the need for stability, particularly down back but I think pace out of the back line is an important commodity.
The ball can travel pretty quick out of the backline with good kicking that opens up the play.
With Rotham we have pace and neat foot skills. Witherden sounds like Hurn, a bit slower but very good kick.
So Jetta and Hurn retire we have Rotham and Witherden replacing them. Eagles game plan relies s on good kicking across half back. Nelson, Cole and Shep provide the lock down roles on smalls.
Duggan to midfield.
