The only thing any reasonable person in this shit fight should acknowledge is that lockdown works to slow the virus, as the evidence is overwhelming.

The level of it and the speed of the re-opening should be all that is debated.

Time for all Victorian teams to be placed in interstate hubs for the foreseeable future, othrwise season 2020 is dead.
Establish hubs in SA and WA whilst keeping the hub in QLD alive. Have 6 clubs based at each hub. Only way to keep the season alive unless they literally order all Victorian-based players to stay indoors at all times except for training and games.

Given how much of a financial disaster the AFL was saying it would be a few months ago. They had better act now and make some unpopular (for Vic) decisions or we might have a very different football landscape going forward.

Maybe this is the chance for a truly Australian Football League to come to the fore.

SA, WA, Tasmania and NT can get the comp going - imagine the enthusiasm and crowds. Vics can muddle around with their poor administration and hubris and lose a heap of money and after 10 years of failing they can ask if a couple of clubs can join the real league. For the record those clubs can keep the premierships they won in that other comp.

I know it won't happen but it bloody should!

Oh. And PS - the grand final moves from State to State!!

As it should have if the Vics hadn't done a dodgy, opaque backdoor internal deal to keep the final at the MCG.

Eddie replied to Tredreas idea to this a few weeks back, basically had a laugh and said the only place it would ever move is Marvel.... he scoffed at the idea...

More than half of Sweden's covid-19 deaths have been in nursing homes, where lockdowns have been enforced.
Lol, you don’t get it...the rest of the community didn’t go into a lockdown so the virus spread via the carers into the nursing homes. Saying lockdowns don’t work is bullshit. There are levels of lockdowns and the timing is vital.

Here’s a thought. So we stumble through to the grand final and Victoria has ongoing cases with SA and WA etc... having none. Grand Final in front of a crowd or at the MCG with no crowd?

sure buddy

ppl in open air, wearing masks, not touching each others stuff we're seeing is a lot safer than getting together at your brothers place to watch the footy with the boys

No but this doesn't suit my view of the leftist agenda

It's not left or right, it's common sense if you have large masses of people gathering together during a pandemic that chances of tranmission will be greater, duh!

Saw a heck of a lot more common sense at the BLM protest than I saw in the workplace, supermarkets, homes of relatives, government houses, etc but you know I guess you're ok with people dying if they look different to you

If you ignore the obvious symptoms he was displaying he was asymptomatic, AFL logic.
I was literally told by people on this board not to worry when I was tested for a runny nose as it isn't a common symptom...

Yes.

If only people could choose not to have to work or require sustenance. If only those activities were as vital to survival as a march.

I heard SA Health Minister Stephen Wade say that SA would review the July 20 date for opening the border with Victoria. The SA Government is very concerned about the community spread of COVID-19 in Victoria.

This has severe repercussions for the AFL as the SA Government is extremely unlikely to allow FIFO from Victoria if there is the slightest risk. This means the AFL has at least three options-

  • Leave the two SA teams in a hub in a State that will allow FIFO exemptions.
  • Relocate the two SA teams to a hub in Victoria.
  • Relocate the Victorian based teams to hubs interstate.

One of the above is the most sensible option but the other two are the easiest and possibly cheapest options. There is no prize for guessing which option the AFL will not chose. Gillion McLachlan has made a big deal about putting the health of the players and the community first. If the figures in Victoria do not improve dramatically over the next 2-3 weeks his claim will be put to the test.

There was literally no social distancing at all..

Time and place.

15,000 people in the city gathered for hours yelling, coming and going on transport is a little different to supermarkets and family homes mate. With 3 positive protesters most like infectious on the day of them, its not pretty.

Marshall is going to build a wall along the SA and Vic border and get Dan Andrews to pay for it.

Graham Cornes: "It's time we built a wall between South Australia and Victoria."
Stephen Rowe: "Great idea Studley, that'll help us keep out the coronavirus cases."
Graham Cornes: "Co-what-a-virus?"
