Vaccination isn't a magic bullet. With the way this country is reacting right now to very small amounts of people getting covid, sometimes literally one cast, and vaccination being unable to prevent spread with 100% effectiveness, what, do people reckon that it will be ok to not go back in to a lockdown, that governments will let it roll when cases start to rise?

I think it's when we achieve herd immunity with the vaccine. That'll make it difficult for the virus to spread, and it could even peter out (but of course the virus does mutate). Right now the virus spreads exponentially if left unchecked. That's leads to overwhelmed health systems which the lockdowns are designed to avoid.

And there are signs vaccines slow or prevent transmission. That's big news.

I'm hoping no more lockdowns once the vaccine rollout is done, assuming enough of the population is vaccinated. The health system should be able to manage small numbers of +ve cases because the virus either won't be able to spread or can be controlled easily enough. Everyone will still need to follow good hygiene practices but that will have broader benefits.

I'll tell you about the WA police state I'm living in - I was only allowed to buy two of bread, rolls and crumpets today. I thought it would have been a limit of two of any of those, but no dice. Luckily I have enough toastable (ie not mouldy yet) bread to last until tomorrow.

And workplaces still being vigilant and understanding toward people not working with symptoms, and appropriate protection and safety nets from government.
