I wonder if we could have done same here if not for Gladys

Yes we could've eliminated Delta if NSW had locked down harder and earlier just like Victoria, the ACT and New Zealand did with such amazing success and then we could've eliminated it forever if we never, ever opened our international border ever again. Terrific stuff.

My recollection is that the Dept of Veterans Affairs claims were contested by Lambie and were subsequently dropped with DVA admitting she was entitled to compensation.

that sounds more accurate.

edgie: "quick, a bunch of people are agreeing on something, better post something to the contrary!"

Apologies if previously posted.

"Experts in Japan have been left convinced that the nation of 125 million has successfully eradicated the Delta variant of Covid-19, after incredible new data emerged.
According to new research from Japan’s National Institute of Genetics, scientists say that the deadly strain drove itself towards a “natural extinction” after several mutations led to it being unable to make copies of itself.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Japanese population have been on high alert especially after the highly-transmissible Delta variant broke through its borders in 2021.
At the peak of their fifth wave, the country recorded a staggering 26,000 cases per day as countries around the world, including Australia, imposed strong lockdown measures to squash the Delta curve.
However, in November, the nation saw a glimpse of recovery.
Over the past few weeks, Japan has been recording under 200 cases and on Friday registered its first day without a Covid death in 15 months."

This is what I've been saying for months. Was a matter of time.

Now we just need to offer any Japanese citizen/resident a totally open visa for them to do whatever they want wherever they want.

maybe people of asian descent are just more resistant to these type of flus after bird flu/SARS/swine flu etc

they've basically flogged covid easily while europe and america got destroyed

probably a genetically engineered bioweapon tbh

The media demanded and enquiry into private security firms used in Victorian quarantine. Also wanted an enquiry into a nebuliser.

So I assume there will be even more vehement demands now that we know the NSW Berejiklian govt disregarded health advice?

Waiting…

Plenty other states had delta and got it to zero.

Doesn't help waiting a month before doing anything.

If NSW had controlled the Bondi cluster back in June it would not have spread to NZ the ACT and Victoria. It was Berejiklian's failure to read the situation that doomed the rest of Australia.

To be fair in NZ the whole country locked down the same day they found out about the very first case.

Despite this once the undiscovered cases got found they never really got the R below 0.8. Its possible that NZ could have gotten rid of it, but there is every chance it would have taken months more of strict lockdown.

In South Australia Marshall has recently announced that COVID infections in Aged Care Facilities will be treated in the facility. These are elderly people some in their 80's and 90's many with underlying health conditions and they will no longer be moved to a hospital. Aged Care providers were given just 3 days to prepare for the change. Could it be that Marshall has realised that he does not have enough hospital beds to cope with even a moderate influx of COVID patients?

Marshall has also announced that SA will build temporary qurantine facilities in remote areas to assist with the isolation of infected Indigenous people and thus protect the unvaccinated. When asked when work would start Marshall replied as early as November 30 and as late as June 2022. A U turn on quarantine facilities and more Policy on the Run.

Last night for the first time ambulances were ramped at the Women's and Children's Hospital.

It did not take the predicted 3 days for SA to score it's first positive. Thankfully there is no danger but a positive none the less. Nicola Spurrier has been ominously quite over the past week and when she does make an appearance she looks pretty stressed. One wonders how much of this open borders policy is based on her advice and how much is Liberal Party politics as Marshall toes the Federal line.

SA now has 60,000 applicants waiting to get into the State. Maybe that answers Dan Andrews' question about who would want to go South Australia.

A second case of COVID-19 has been recorded in SA – one day after the state opened its borders.
It follows a vaccinated Victorian traveller testing positive, which is thought to be an old “shedding” infection, which is not considered a risk.

Chief public health office Professor Nicola Spurrier confirmed a new case but said more details would be coming shortly.

Premier Steven Marshall was addressing a press conference on another matter when the second case was confirmed: “Just moments before coming to this press conference I was told about a second case. We don’t have the details for that right now – we will be able to update you later today,” he said.

Wonder where we are up to with booster shots in SA
