Sounds like omicron is basically covid lite.

We'd be better served letting it in and overrun delta and get on with it.
Would be fantastic, wouldn’t it, but it is starting to be revealed that even with mild initial cases, long covid can develop over coming weeks and months with all its ensuing issues, including neurological. We won’t be able to put that cat back in the bag, will we?
Perhaps a little patience.

In South Africa they are not getting the hospitalisations they expected given the number of infections and thus far the symptoms are mild compared to the Delta strain. I suspect that milder symptoms will mean less long COVID. Hopefully this is the way it works out.

I guess the reatlity is we will probably all catch it but the symptoms will be mild.

Been seeing seeing a lot of anti-vaxxers/anti mandaters blasting the AFL on Twitter in the wake of that SANFL Crows player's assumed adverse reaction to a Pfizer jab - they all seem certain that he was forced against his will to get vaccinated, but for all they know he might've been perfectly willing to 'do the right thing', or being a part-time footballer he may've needed to get vaccinated for his day job. Who knows - not these twits.

I hope the fella makes a full and swift recovery, but his unfortunate bad reaction is probably well within the rate expected across the community, ie the only one we've heard about among approx 2000 AFL and second tier footy players.

Yes I guess we all likely will.

I hope it will just be mild with no ongoing issues too but it’s not always playing out that way with Delta…

…but yes, maybe with Omicron it will be different.

No surprise I guess. The anti crowd will always jump on any adverse reaction..I mean, Janus is case in point. They don’t seem to discuss bad covid19 outcomes however. Talk about an echo chamber.

The other thing with Omicron is that people who have had COVID are just as readily infected. The South Africans are saying that the anti bodies built up after previous infections are bypassed with this variant. Probably due to the larger number of variations in the spike protein. This may not be good news for current vaccines but if the symptoms are mild in vaccinated and unvaccinated people it may not matter.

I guess it is wait and see as Pfitzer may be able to modify their current vaccine to counter any changes. I read where Pfitzer were saying they could have a modified vaccine ready to roll in 100 days. I am due my booster late in February so I hope we know the vaccine status by then.

A prominent Adelaide forum is beating SA health to announcing exposure sites which is kind of a concern.

The last update to the Exposure Site Table on the SA Health website was,

Obviously Steven Marshall is not prepared to pay overtime for working on Sunday.

Jay Wheatherill hosts a function at the Stamford Grand in Glenelg on Monday29th but on the SA Health site this is not listed as a 'close contact' exposure site until Saturday 4th December and all Nicola Spurrier can say is...

'The new hierarchy of exposure sites brought in two weeks ago — where some do not require those who attended to quarantine — took longer to process than before. To get the information that is more [complete], so that we're giving people the better advice about the quarantine time and who needs to quarantine, it does take that little bit longer to pull all of that information together.' she said.

In the meantime potentially infectious people walk around the streets of Adelaide for 5 days. Perhaps it is better to go back to the old contact tracing system Nicola?

The good news is that only one of today's 6 cases is under investigation. The rest are interstate, overseas or the Norwood cluster.

Or stop tracing & stop posting sites all together. Vaccine is your friend, or not.

They are fools, as is their leader, Craig stupid Kelly, who is in it only for the votes and whatever $$$ is being funnelled his way.. the population of Ballarat want them to piss off and leave their town alone. It’s just absolutely ridiculous. It is counterproductive.
The people who demand freedom do nothing to bring us to that goal sooner, in fact they do the exact opposite.

It’s a bad thing to demand freedom, said no one ever. There are those who look at the bigger picture from another perspective. No clear winners at the moment.
