After a quick look in to it:

"The report cites an analysis by Harvard School of Public Health and King’s College Hospital in London, which found that it takes about $17.74 to produce a five-day course of molnupiravir. Earlier this year, Merck agreed to supply 1.7 million courses to the U.S. government at $700 each." (note: actually $712)
When you sell ivermectin, you are selling it to customers, normal people. The contracts are in place, the customers are paying a set amount that they have personal choice in. Its an established, mature market. But when you sell covid med, you're selling it to desperate governments, who get to splash around taxpayer money. Merck already has licensing agreements with 105 countries for molnupiravir. The US has already committed to purchasing $1.2 billion worth. Australia alone has paid for 300,000 doses. All at what looks like a massive premium.
But it gets even better. Because for Merck, they partnered with Ridgeback Biotherapeutics on developing the drug. Where did Ridgeback get their money? From federal funding provided under Trump (I'm assuming as part of Operation Warp Speed). So they didn't even have to spend most of the money it took to create it. They took money from the government to make something, then sell it back to the same government for billions in profit.
FYI I'm not an ivermectin guy, I have no idea if it does anything wrt covid. I'm also a fan of molnupiravir, because its been specially created and tested and could be a great tool in the fight against covid. But it is pretty easy to see that this could all be just very smart business by Merck. From a profit perspective if they assume covid remedies are gonna be needed for the next 5-10 years, having a pill that works better and makes them more money is a no brainer. And business decisions will guide which scientific studies are funded for which drugs, to prove or disprove their efficacy.

I've only skipped thru the last couple of pages and yes his posting has been horrible but it's fair to say that those he's been argueing with have been on a similar level.
I'm totally pro-vax but also pretty much over the whole thing and really don't care if people get the vax or not - I just want us to rip the band aid off and get on with life wherever the new norm takes us.

Debate is not always good.
Malcolm Roberts and Craig Kelly "debating" climate change science isn't good.
Clive Palmer importing 50,000 tonnes of hydroxy to go to landfill because he watched videos isn't good.
There are people who want to debate chemtrails, 5g, flat earth etc. This adds zero value to humanity as the science is already settled. They are simply uneducated or brain defective.
Covid is not quite at that level. Vaccines aren't the be all and end all and they certainly aren't perfect but they're what we have. If there are other treatments that prove equally or more effective that will come out in the clinical trials. Peer reviewed and appropriately sourced research is always worth looking at. Hot takes from Parler and US fraudsters are not. Even if one day they do stumble upon something they have so utterly destroyed their credibility with the utter nonsense, bad science and misrepresentation
Oh yeah, and G0twotheD3s334ves calling people maggots and threating to bash them isn't meaningful debate either.
What I think people really hate to face, is the fact that idiots like Malcolm Roberts and Craig Kelly have a foothold is that the mainstream media is just so utterly awful, biased and dishonest that trust in it is at 0% for most people, which makes it very difficult to differentiate real news from fake news.
If the argument that chemtrails are making the frogs gay seems possible to a lot of people, its largely because it DOES seem just as sensible as the garbage from the big fake news outlets like CNN or Fox News. That's a much bigger problem for society than the idea that its just a few conspiracy nuts that have been 'corrupted' by facebook.
