If there wasn't lockdowns; would the AFL be running? If it spread through clubs as it has the clusters in Melbourne how much would this have impacted the season?

Would players put themselves and those close to them at risk? Could people go to games?

I could never understand why medical experts were claiming that kids couldn't spread the virus. It made no sense at all, are they a different species? Naturally, governments were going to take that advice on board and declare schools safe.
They learnt it on bigfooty.

Actually you would be right except not everyone is vaccinated - so my point is valid for the unvaccinated and all your issues are the same every Flu season not just for COVID19.
People who aren’t vaccinated for the flu are protected by those who are. Unless everyone gets it, there is a small risk.
No one is vaccinated for COVID-19. That means that when it spreads, it spreads uncontrollably through everyone.
Social distancing is like a non-medical vaccine. There are some situations where it isn’t achievable. But if it is practised in as many places as possible, there is so little of the virus that the occasions where it can’t be practiced aren’t a major risk.

932 actives - with around 500 in the last 3 days and thankfully ICU patients have gone from 5 to 9.
That said these are not ICU numbers that justify a crisis let alone a lockdown.

It takes about 9 to 10 days for a covid-19 diagnosis to progress to the more severe stage of the infection and nine or ten days ago Melbourne was getting new diagnosed case numbers in the 40's .Not sure how many spare icu beds there are in melbourne but if case numbers keep going up at 100 plus per day it could get grim.
-a quick check of this weeks icu numbers in Victoria show that ten people have been admitted to an icu Two of those ten have died .Three patients of the four that had been in icu for longer than a week have recovered enough to be moved out of icu.

For school aged children, "it's not even the flu, bro."

Seriously--- why is this Perth based loser still posting information that really isn't useful at the moment. What may apply for you over there is different than what's happening in Victoria. How many more times do you need to post unsubstantiated BS that does nothing but confuse the message and potentially case harm. Melbourne is back in lockdown because of this 'alternative facts' BS where people didn't take it seriously.

Can you please just stop spouting lies so that I may be actually able to visit my parents again in another part of Melbourne sometime soon you tin foil hat flog.

which lies now ?,

point them out ?

point them out ?

I've spent the past few weeks pointing them out and you ignore it when you're proven wrong and repeat the same BS over and over again:
  • The article from the Indian News website that discusses the COVID situation in Europe
  • Tweets from March as evidence of the situation in June
  • An article from Switzerland that clearly states "is only relevant to the situation in Switzerland"
  • Comments like--- For school aged children, "it's not even the flu, bro.

I've got no problem with you having your views on the world--- all I'm asking for is that after 400 posts can you stop interrupting discussion about the ongoing saga that has a massive impact on people in Melbourne (from over in WA) to rant about your alternative view on the situation.

I don't care right now if COVID is dangerous or not.... do you know what I care about? The people of Melbourne (some of which are on BigFooty) following the current health advice and lockdowns so that the Victorian government can see a decrease in the current confirmed case numbers and we will be able to get out of lockdown again in 6 weeks. I don't want people reading your BS and taking it at face value, because it means they'll ignore the Health advice and the restrictions--- leading to a higher chance of this lockdown being extended.

All I'm asking for is for you to stop repeating the same BS so people who read this thread can discuss how we can work together to get past this lockdown and be able to see our extended families again, attend funerals again, etc. Basically have the same rights you do. Can you please allow us that?

Spare a thought for the residents of Longwarry.

One side of KooWeeRup-Longwarry road is in Lockdown.
Whilst the other half are free to enjoy coffee in the Soul Sisters Cafe.

Presumably the locked down half can visit the little Longwarry Supermarket and Bottleo, whilst the unlocked half can't.
However to go to a larger supermarket or bigger shops, the unlocked half can duck into Drouin 8km away.
The locked down half , need to travel to Packenham 34 km away, where, ironically they are probably more likely to be exposed to Coronavirus. ( though still very low risk ).

Cardinia is deemed to be a metropolitan LGA, though only part of Beaconsfield is connected to the Urban sprawl. Its mainly just Packenham and a number of small rural towns, spread over a considerably large area.

There are something like 80 active cases East of Warrigul road. These will probably be gone in 4 weeks.

I suspect that Mitchell Shire, may be in a similar circumstance.

The whole thing is about....Covering for the incompetence of the Quarantine Hotels.
Wanting the people in the West to think we are not discriminating against them, just because they couldn't follow instructions. All in this together type crap.

We know that first cases increase, hospital admissions next and the ICU admissions around 3 weeks later. We could easily have 50-70 people in ICU in two weeks time and steadily increasing.

I think that is the ethical dilemma faced by government around the world, the balance between health and people's livelihoods.

I'm quite pleased that you are not the person in charge making these decisions.

I have made the point before that Dan Andrews lock us down to prepare the Healthcare system - he then increased ICU beds by 4000.
So even 50-70 people in ICU is not a crisis given what the projections justifying 4000 beds must have been.
If fact Dan Andrew would have laughed if told in March, in 4 months our use of ICU beds would be low, and he would have thought it comical , if some had told he would call a second lockdown with 5 people in ICU.

The current numbers have fallen so far short projections of mayhem and “true” crisis that people are rightly questioning the need for a second lockdown.

We added 4000 new ICU beds - that’s why I’m saying there is no crisis when compared to the original projections and $1.3 Billion spent on this ICU bed expansion.

yes but we need to lockdown.

lockdown is the best

even if this is the flu and safer for kids and anyone under 65 we just need to lockdown

even if we did add thousand of beds etc etc etc we need to lockdown

facts are meaningless

don't you understand !!

Still not recommending masks
Half assing restrictions

Shouldn't have given a days notice for lockdowns inc the border lockdown
Masks mandatory in public
50k fines for being a dickhead
Jail for second offence

This tip toing around is only going to give us rolling lockdowns go hard properly and do it correctly.

It takes a few weeks to go from positive test to ICU (and worse). This is well proven and undeniable.

Would you be prepared for
me to quote this post in two weeks time?

Absolutely - because we will never get near using the 4000 extra ICU beds we added.
And that’s my point - we were predicting a “true crisis” and embarked on this expansion which cost$1.3 billions.

To therefore call our current situation a crisis, needing a second lockdown is completely counter intuitive.

Mate--- this is exactly what I was trying to say.

We're past discussing whether a lockdown is necessary or not in Melbourne--- it's here. It's about discussing how best to get out of it the other side as quick as possible. What's happening in WA (where you claim you're from) is different than what's happening here. I'm asking you again--- please stop your ranting, because it's not helping us discuss the actual issue in front of us.

Actually I'm not, you might be though.

If you think i am ranting, HAGLHAYS, your last post was not worth responding to, this one barely is.

If i upset you so much with my 'rants' block me.

Oh and BTW where have i lied - you claim but never put anything up ?.

If you actually read my last post I listed 4 examples where you either speak complete BS or use data that's incredibly flawed. Here it is a second time for you if you struggled with it the first time.

I've spent the past few weeks pointing them out and you ignore it when you're proven wrong and repeat the same BS over and over again:
  • The article from the Indian News website that discusses the COVID situation in Europe
  • Tweets from March as evidence of the situation in June

It's pretty much impossible to ignore you within this thread because every third post is either your incorrect rambling or someone responding to your incoherent rambling. I know you're not discussing the current Victorian situation, but around your pathetic attempts at trolling & taking the topic back into Sweden or USA or wherever you're ranting about today people have been discussing the current Victorian lockdown in the "Coronavirus Mega Thread".

Do you not understand that someones it's not all about you Les--- but maybe it's better to allow posters discuss something that's impacting their lives (not yours, but people who live in Victoria) without being it taken off topic with your ranting. When Victoria is still in lockdown after August 19th because of people breaching lockdown rules, etc. I will come back to this moment and remind you that Victorian's are in lockdown because their not taking it seriously because they read rants like yours.

This isn't a discussion about whether there should be a lockdown-- it's already happened. The people of Melbourne just need to do what needs to be done to get through to the other side and not have to be repeatedly exposed to the views of a Conspiracy Theorist from Perth.
