Premier Mark McGowan has announced a $607 million economic stimulus package in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The measures include:
  • Freezing of all household fees and charges. This includes electricity, water, public transport fares and the emergency services level. This will cost the State budget $402 million.
  • Energy assistance payment for vulnerable West Australians, including pensioners, will be doubled. This will cost the State budget $91 million.
  • $114 million to support small to medium businesses. Eligible businesses with an annual payroll of between $1m and $4m will receive a one-off grant of $17,500. Next round of payroll tax cuts will also be brought forward.
  • Businesses impacted by COVID will defer their payroll tax payments for 19/20 payroll to July 2021.
  • There will be 20 days COVID leave for all public sector workers, including casuals.

Very good proposal from WA, very fair.

“Funds will collapse, pensions won’t get paid and we will need to recognise that decades of growth were not sustainable, ultimately converging money supply and GDP, and in the process wiping out years of rising standards of living."

I was referring to the fact that Hollywood for over 70 years has overrated Nazi’s when compared to other more deadly regimes throughout history.

Ashkenazi Jews are the backbone of Hollywood. Arabs are also the go to bad guys.

Well panic has finally set in, there is actually no food other than some random fruit and veg in both the aldi and woolworths at present were we are. just people walking around bewildered, the bloke in front of me bought a trolly jack, the woman behind me a bunch of kale and i got a loaf of bread and some apples.

heard a girl in one of the aisle remark to her mother "look mummy they still have ice creams" and the mothers reply is thats because people dont need ice cream.

As far as wars go, it was essentially the last war between western powers...

Do you really think an American audience is going to sit thru a 3 hour epic of pol pot?

you might be able to chuck a Anglo reporter in like they did in ‘the last king of Scotland’ for relatability but otherwise hard to see saleability with a USA audience. Which ultimately is what Hollywood is.

Look, I could definitely go into some deep discussions regarding the subject of Hollywood, but for the sake of trying to broker some peace on this fiery thread, I think it’s best if we all cool it with the politics a little.

No.

If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.

It was a good thread til the Cooked Online Brain Brigade arrived babbling about George Soros and stuff he did in 1944.

Glad I stocked up a while back with good stuff.

If there are government handouts ('bailouts') to be had no doubt the big boys will have their snouts in the trough.

They know what they're doing.

So you were wrong last night when you had a go at me?

No...If I was to truly dig deep into certain political subjects on this board, I would most definitely get banned. It’s the benefit of having the wrong opinions about stuff.

Hopefully the Vic govt follow suit.

With payroll tax suspension to follow.....

Just do it on the right thread, all kinds of stuff gets discussed here.

Warning - you'll probably find that what you think is some shocking knowledge only a select few have access to so boring old cooked online brain crap normal people encountered and dismissed years ago.

Go check the Devil's Chessboard Thraed, great political chat there.

So you were wrong last night when you had a go at me?
I didn't have a go at you. I said to get over yourself with the hyperbole and fearmongering.

Reality is that none of us personally know a single individual who has died from coronavirus.

Anybody pushing the zombie apocalypse 'there'll be death in the streets' narrative is a turkey.

:gobble gobble

You do know Groin guru and Boomer29er than you are the modern day equivalent of people who thought the Sky God was angry when thunder and lightning came?
You brought him up. I must have imagined that interview...no wait I can watch it right now...it happened. I must have imagined him losing 1 billion dollars thanks to Hilary losing 2016.

I'm not surprised you're defending him. Most of your viewpoints have come from media he backs. You were most likely a paid shill back when you were writing fluff opinion pieces.

No, we were talking economics and you said I was a first year uni student flog who reckons last stage capitalism is failing.

Next day largest fall in ASX history, which came after the last largest fall last week.

LOL.

Cooked online brain. You can't think.

I brought him up as an example of how this outbreak is bringing the current political mess to a head.

You started babbling about 1944 and Hilary Clinton - because your brain is cooked from the internet.

Do you think Soros is hooked up in the Corvid-19 outbreak?

Yes or no?

Just so we're clear, you are equating a stock market fall with capitalism failing?

Very good decision. That will alleviate the pressure on many. Hopefully the other states follow suit.

It seems it may actually only be a freeze in increases.

"The stimulus package will be worth a total of $607 million.

It includes a freeze on electricity, water, motor vehicle charges, emergency services levy and public transport fare increases, at a cost to the Government of $402 million.

Mr McGowan said it would be the first time in 16 years these costs to household bills would be fixed.

The fees and charges will remain unchanged until at least July 2021."

Just so we're clear, you are equating a stock market fall with capitalism failing?

The current neo-liberal model, yes.

It died in 2008 but was made into a zombie with cheap money and QE, everyone knew that was just kicking the can down the road to the next crisis.

The next crisis is here.

And it is dying again.

I suspect we'll go back to a form of managed capitalism like we had post-war. Or maybe even some form of State Capitalism like they have in China.

But the current late stage neo-liberal model is dying before your eyes. Even Macquarie Bank can see it.
