Haven't ScoMo and Dandrews both said that this will be kept going for 'at least six months'?

From what I can gather on social media, people are either happy to cop that, or too scared to say 'this is bullshit' for fear of ostracism.

Not me, though. I'm saying it loud and proud: this is ******* bullshit. Beyond farcical already.

I read on The Age live update a moment ago that a man in hotel quarantine died and the circumstances are not being treated as suspicious.

Can't help but infer that this may be newspeak for suicide. And we'll see more of them. But apparently those lives don't matter.

Anybody who can't see the inherent contradiction in all of this is beyond hope.
alright, here it is.

It's ****ing shit to just put up suicide against deaths to covid-19, like that's a valid point to be making. BOTH ARE BAD. That's a ****ing simple idea that you don't seem to be able to comprehend. There are services out there to help people who are contemplating suicide, people to engage with about it and work through it, there is help available. That hasn't stopped being true. I don't honestly believe you care, but you keep talking about it. The restrictions that are on, that you're doing your best to make seem like the end of days, that's the help for people who contract this virus, or are in a vulnerable position because of the virus. They aren't mutually exclusive, one doesn't disprove the need for the other.

Stop using the poor mental health and possible tragic deaths of people to reinforce your ****ing shithouse conspiracy bullshit.

They distru

They distrust local dairy products but apparently bats are okey dokey.

Different groups of people. The ones who buy the baby formula would be the middle class and wealthy in the tier-one cities. They would turn up their noses at the idea of eating bats just about as much as we would.

The cooperation between feds and states, libs and labor, and politics being melded to expert medical advice has left me feeling proud and lucky to be Australian.

It's been handled very well on all levels.

Wouldn't want to be the one making a decision on when to re-open things though. Cases may drop right now, but they could easily jump back up if things are relaxed as well. Lower numbers is just as compelling an argument for keeping the lockdown going as it is for lifting it.

None of us can know 100% what to believe. Not the journalists but equally not the politicians. But the references in the article appears credible (including access to emails) and timelines sync up with Trump’s very public narrative.

This has been extremely difficult for every leader. They have an unprecedented situation and have to make terrible choices. But it appears Trump could have greatly minimised the impact here if he had listened to his medical experts and moved quicker. His ego got in the way again.

Similarly, the WHO made some shocking calls. They will need to be held to account in the wash-up. But given Trump’s calls, the diversionary criticism as the US were in the eye of the storm was a disgrace IMO.

Then how can anyone take a definitive position? If you dislike the man then fair enough state that, but it's disingenuous to hitch your wagon to what is at best pure speculation, or worse, engineered bias from the tabloids which quite frankly gives this clown far too much credit in the decision making processes surrounding this issue!

It's a smart move to stay away from tabloid opinion pieces altogether, as I have consistently identified poor extrapolations of the scientific data related to this subject, and of course, the majority of them have agendas political and/or commercial..

We need to know what the endgame is for our leaders. Is it local eradication, continuing to flatten the curve, or allowing the virus to spread through the community in a more controlled way? The deputy chief health officer put eradication on the table as a possibility a few days ago. If that is the goal they should tell us what the strategy is to get from where we are now to the point where they are confident it is no longer in the community, and what will be the benchmark that needs to be achieved for them to declare it is gone.

I'm not sure enough is known about the virus to have a concrete "endgame" yet. All levels of government have effectively been acting on a day to day basis, hence the need to consistently re-evaluate restrictions. They can't really come out and publicly announce a strategy because there could be another outbreak or a second wave tomorrow, which may change the strategy.

People really just need to trust and be patient.

You don't think suicide is more sad, horrific, demoralising, and lonely than what you've seen on the TV?

Has it occured to you that there may be a spike in suicide as a result of people losing jobs, losing livelihoods, etc?

Honestly **** off with using suicide as a screen for your skepticism of the way the world is dealing with the Chinese coronavirus

If there is another outbreak or second wave then we deal with that when it happens. Just because you might be wrong or the strategy might not work shouldn't stop us from having one. I am not sure the public will have indefinite patience if they don't understand the endgame.

They know everything that needs to be known about the virus, the difficult hurdle is in dealing with the humans.

The public hasn't had any patience from day one.

This is no conspiracy theory.

It has now been confirmed that the death in the forced quarantine was suicide.

See From 1m10s into this video:

You pretend to care about peoples lives but when somebody tops themselves in two weeks forced isolation, you shoot the messenger.

Get a grip.

A chef and some electromagnetic frequencies found in nature? Meh.

How about the President of the United States - the de facto supreme leader of the country currently well in the lead for the most people infected with this thing - telling everyone to take hydroxychloroquine, a drug with potentially serious side effects that include life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias, vision changes, psychological distress, and severe rashes among them. A drug that has zero proof of efficacy on Covd19, is not endorsed in any way shape or form by anyone in the medical profession for use on Covid19 (including Trump's own beleaguered medical officer, Dr. Fauci, poor bugger) and is desperately needed by the patients already taking it for the conditions for which it was prescribed to them, which is not Covid19. But no, let's aim the pitchfork wielding crowd at the chef with his zero-side effect light frequency peddling. And as for media platforms - yeah, let's not go there. Trump wins again on that one by a few thousand country miles.

Look, I'm not saying either one is okay. But if you're going to go after one charlatan, you need to go after them all. And Trump's spruiking of an unproven drug in this case is far more dangerous than light-frequency guy. Enough with the excuses to keep jumping on alternative healing stuff. A little perspective please, for just this once, on who is the person who could cause more harm here.
Doesn't he have a mate that owns the company that makes it?

Although somewhere in this thread is study from france three weeks ago that raises the possibility that it might be ffective on stopping this virus.

Now withdrawn by the board that published it originally due to significant questions over the quality of the study.
