It was unprofessional of him to do that and he probably embarrassed Balmey more than Mick Malthouse. He should keep his nose out of other peoples business.

Wonder about the context of what he said. Was he asked about Pies FC/Malthouse? If he just came out with it, the comments themselves are fairly benign , but unnecessary and regrettable. I'd like our Club to be seen as above all that idle criticism of others. Either way, doubt there'll be a repeat.
