So why wouldnt we go for Carlisle ????

Never a bad thing sticking our noses in and he would be perfect replacement for Chaplin - Atleast he can play on a foward and we can get Grimes to do Chaplins role

I would throw $600k at Carlisle and tell him he is the missing link that gets the Tigers a Flag

IMO to keep these players we need to have a good year. We make top 4 and they stay, we don't make finals I'd say at least one if not two go, and if we finish 5-8 who the feck knows

$600k doesnt get you Carlisle.

If its the team he see's a future at - It will
Beg to differ.
To move a player from a club you need to pay overs.
600k he stays at Bombers apart from this bullshit saga the Bombers arent exactly in rebuild mode.
800k sees him move clubs who are also not too far away from contending.
1mil + clubs who are down and need a key forward. Saints, Carlton & Brisbane.

Hell even a club who thinks they are close could try and throw 1mil at him. Freo or Port.

Technically you only have to pay overs for a restricted free agent because his club can match it
If he's unrestricted then you can try and sell success to land a player, especially if they are in a bottom team

You can include a traded player as well.

How much do you think Paddy Ryder is getting at Port - Wouldnt think it would be more than $600k

Paddy is different. He didnt buy into the culture of " do whatever it takes" Paddy wanted out.

Do you have some connection to him Cevap_Roll ?
None what so ever. But it was made pretty clear he wanted to leave. Something to do with EFC couldnt even guarantee the drugs they pumped into Paddy wouldnt harm his unborn child.

And whats to stop Carlisle to come out with the same reason after we have convinced him to play with us.

Correct with that one. But he hasnt so will cost more then 600k. Also believe the demand for Carlisle will be much higher then Paddy.

GREAT NEWS

http://news.theage.com.au/breaking-...or-tigers-skipper-cotchin-20141204-3lsxy.html

Richmond captain Trent Cotchin has signed a five-year contract extension, tying him to the Tigers until the end of 2020 and effectively ensuring he will complete his AFL career as a one-club player.
Cotchin's previous deal was to have ended next year, at which point he would have been eligible for restricted free agency.
But following successive finals campaigns for the first time since the mid 1970s, the three-time best and fairest winner has set his sights on sustained success for the Tigers.
Richmond's's general manager of football Dan Richardson said the club was thrilled that the 24-year-old Cotchin had been willing to sign such a long-term deal.

"Clearly his decision indicates that he is fully behind the direction the club is heading, and he has a desire to lead the playing group as it continues to mature and improve," said Richardson.
"While we were extremely confident he would re-commit to the club at the end of his current contract, it's a great result that the extension has been finalised so swiftly.
"Trent has grown into an outstanding leader of the club, while maintaining an extremely high level of on-field performance."
Cotchin has played 131 games in seven seasons and has polled at least 15 Brownlow Medal votes in each of the past four years.
He replaced Chris Newman as Richmond captain two years ago.

Thanks Rubber Hips Hips , that's outstanding news. I didn't ever feel Cotch wouldn't re-sign. But that still doesn't take any of the joy from hearing this...:thumbsu::thumbsu:

How intelligent are our blokes in Richardson and co. They stitch up the most important bloke before the year is out giving us time to re-sign Dusty and Rance. Dusty has already stated he wants to stay and get a long term deal. I really can't see any of these blokes leaving. We will know exactly where we stand nice and early in the piece for our "presentation" to Paddy D.

It's funny, we all laugh at opposition supporters who believe that just because they want a particular player, that their club is interested and has in fact already done most of the work in recruiting them. Therefore their club is at the front of the queue. Makes no sense to me.
Problem is that we're all doing exactly the same thing with Dangerfield.
He's going to be at Adelaide or Geelong next year. Simple as that.
