One thing nobody is talking about right now but I have a huge concern about is the spit test we in Victoria invented or at least approved first 2 b used anywhere in the world by us.

It has an 83% chance of being right. Given we are doing 20000 tests a day that would mean over 3000 are perhaps wrong. Not sure on the number of spit tests but if it's as low as a 1000 tests.... that is 166 wrong reads (could b both ways) we had 165 positive today that's one less than its error rate.... interesting. Not even America would approve it tho, that scares me.

What we are being told and what the situation is in the real world do not match. So because you'r social circle doesn't experience something it doesn't exist? I'm again curious, is there anything else that your real people haven't experienced that you choose doesn't exist? People wanting to travel from the USA will be refused for years to come.

The USA currently has 1.1 million known active cases. These are people who have been tested. The USA does not have a socialist health system, unlike just about every other western country. So the 1.1 million will be multiplied by 5 to take in those that cannot pay to go to hospital.

At minimum the USA has 7 million people infected.

Consider this, if you are in the USA and get sick ... and go to the hospital... then get so sick to need to be put on a ventilator ... eventually survive and are released into the world. If you don’t have a job that provides health insurance ... you have a $70,000 bill to pay.

The USA are one of few developed nations without a socialistic health care system like Australia’s Medicare.

The lockdown of the Commission Towers was a very correct strategy and found 19 certain cases. Every one of the people diagnosed should be on social media singing the vic governments praises.
And everyone else in the tower should be saying thank you, we did not know the bug was so close to us.

Well done Vic government for containing that part of the outbreak. They are now out of the hard lockdown.

The lockdown was probably far from perfect, but it probably reduced the spread and saved lives.

We‘ve gone from some sloppy protocol breaches in quarantine to 700-800 active cases in Victoria.

I think experience here and overseas would tell us that’s exactly what happens.

Someone who thinks he or she has a cold and hasnt been tested rolls up to the Protest and spreads it to another person who then takes it home and then passes it on to someone who doesn’t realise they have it for a few weeks etc etc. No chance in the world they can accurately determine these people have picked up this virus leading back to the protest anymore than you or I picking it up from Coles or Woolies one Thursday while shopping.

My point being- Who and why did anyone think it was ok or a sensible time to hold a protest/mass gathering when people are dying and being infected with this thing all around the world when we had just come out of a state wide lockdown?

Stage the protest at another time when it is safe.

Genome tracing is part of the work they are doing. This is being done around the world, it helps them determine if the outbreak can be traced back to a confirmed source like a person in hotel quarantine who tested positive.

It's why they can link seemingly unrelated clusters to each other.

None of Australia's governments said it was a good time to hold the protests, they didn't organise the protests and frankly with the issues that were being protested there is no "good time" this is stuff that has been happening for decades and telling those people we're busy right now come back later isn't going to stop them protesting.

The best thing the Governments could do was work with the protest organizers to make them as safe as they could. Making sure they had access to PPE and hand sanitizer to hand out, clearing the area of non protestors, not engaging violently with them in an attempt to break it up.

No other location in Australia has had an outbreak and we've seen what 4 people out of literally tens of thousands around Australia that have had a positive test post the protests.

There have been other protests on other topics, there are ongoing protests in Brisbane against the detention of asylum seekers in hotels there.

There were protests held during stage 3 restrictions around Australia.

Scott Morrison said it was a free country when asked about those protests, but the BLM protestors all got told to stay home. We've got Greg Hunt still driving the conversation around BLM in Melbourne, he's the Federal Health Minister, he's doing radio interviews where he runs out the old the protests made others stop doing the right thing so blame the protests.

Nobody has been able to link the outbreaks to the protests so those with issues have moved to blame the protests for the actions that cause this outbreak. That's politically motivated, it's not helpful at all.

If we went and had a look, there's probably several locations worldwide who did pretty much the right thing like Victoria, but still got a second peak.

Of course it was stupid. no one is actually arguing it wasn't. Ill advised as it was, the lack of transmission associated has underlined that being outside is not as risky as first thought.

If people have every right to protest why are you advocating for that right to be taken away?

Every state other than NSW is letting them protest without going to court about it.

NSW didn't go to court when the AntiVax and 5G conspiracy protests were running, while we were under stricter lock down measures than we are now.

We didn't have politicans saying this wasn't the time to protest a month ago when those crazies were out on the streets.

So explain to me why these people should not be allowed to protest when those other were?

you will never win this argument because people will always spin it towards race and everyone’s right to protest.

At the end of the day people made a choice to gather in the CBD after we had been told to socially distance and not gather in groups as a pandemic was running riot and to me were taking a MASSIVE risk.

A person who works closely with this has told me they have no idea what the true results or infections were from the BLM protest and it’s very much a guesstimate that gets pushed out.
