I thought he was only okay, and on precedent will be dropped if Rocca is fit for next week.

Just ok? I thought he played pretty well. Deserves a few games on the trott to find his feet i think.

On a different note, couldn't be a better week for Rocca to come back in, if we were playing a top 8 side i would say don't bring him in, Melbourne have lifted but we should have far to much class for the Dee's and a good chance to work Rocca into some form.

He wasn't bad, he did his job anyways. He made sure he took Glass and left Cloke with Wilkes.
He presented well I thought, sometimes I questioned his endeavour with his tackling and chasing, but I generally thought he wasn't bad.

He will go out next week for Ant, but will stay in contention in the coming weeks for a call up.

Average.

Kicked a lovely goal, but for someone so unaccountable and intent on not defending, I don't think he fofers qutie enough offensively.

If you're that unaccountable, you have to make up for it offensively, ala Andrew McLeod.

I'd being in a different player next week.

He was only ok. But he has been very good in the reserves. Lets not forget he was playing out of position as a forward. If Rocca is out for a couple I would like to see him given at least another week. We can't expect every guy to step up from VFL to AFL and automatically find the pace of the game.

I thought he was ok. Played part.
Just one of several players being used when we can fit them in to help with his development.
It will be useful long term for him and the club.
With Rocca out it was a bit of a surprise selection for me at least but it certainly was not a flop nor an epiphany.

Nothing over the top.

I rate him as a forward flanker more than a defender, but rocca will have his spost next week i feel

Very true, but he did get Darren Glass for most of the game and if Glass is not the best defender in the game, he would go pretty close. Hard to tell on TV but Cox seemed to be a bit of a decoy for Cloke and perhaps to keep Glass out of the game.

Might get flamed for this, but when he was up my end of the ground I could tell why he hasn't had many senior opportunities. His attack on the footy leaves a little to be desired.

didnt really put a foot wrong, i would give him another week just to find his feet! was ok, nothing to write home about. should have probably done alot better give the number and quality of disposal coming his way!
i would like to see ben reid given a go against melbourne tho, maybe cox for johnson, he is just not up to it. i wonder if dropping would have a derimental effect tho

He did play a little bit in the middle, I think in the third quarter. Got the ball and showed that Pendlebury ability to calmly weave through traffic and dish it off perfectly. If he ever makes the grade he will make it as a midfielder, and nothing else. Perhaps on the wing. He really is great with the ball in his hands in traffic, I think Pendles, Wellingham and Cox in the middle, if they get their hands on it, it would actually be the Matrix.

At this point I'd say he doesn't have the tank to be a permanent midfielder. Definately worth keeping though, but if Rocca is fit, Cox has to go out.

it is worse when he is in the backline that is my only query on him.

He looked decent today nut its rocca spot next week and cox will be back to the reserves id say

Very good as one of the Maxwell/Goldsack type defender, so suprised he was bought in to play forward before someone like Goldsack or even Reid.

Didn't hurt his chances, but may be another slot in for a week gig and keep his spot for next season.

That is where he is at as a player and why he struggles to get a game at the level IMO,and when we swamp them its fine to carry a passanger like that, but if the boot is on the other foot he is a liability.

Like Egan the frustraighting thing it isn't a lack of talent but lack of the mental side of the game that lets him down

Spot on

Also really agree with Dundails that if he is to make it at AFL level it will be on a wing / in the middle, to do that he will need to get a hell of a lot more intensity in his defensive work IMO

Reading between the lines, I'd suggest his perceived lack of intensity is the reason we haven't seen more of him at this level.

I am a fan as he can make things look easy and seems to have time and poise in the manner of Pendles and Wellingham, but this can count against you sometimes as it looks as though you aren't going at 100%.

However before we pass judgement consider that he played quite a bit on Darren Glass, an AA quality defender, and has played the majority of his footy at Collingwood in the back half and yet today was forced to play up forward - play him again next week and we might be able to get a better guage on him.

As far as the raw stats go - 12 possessions and a goal isn't the worst outcome of all time.

If he is included in the team. With Brown and others playing every week, and Goldsack still in the ressie's, reckon he will get a game straight away.

He will play in the reserves at first. Will replace Brown or Wakelin in the event of an injury, but they would need to have a big dropoff on in form to lose their spot to him.
