This is very bad news for Australian Cricket.

Billy has stepped down from the gig after doing a great job for 12 months. Touring demands played a major role in decision.

Can only hope his services are retained with a role at the COE and as a consultant for home seasons at the very least.

theres a great bunch of fast bowling talent to work with. my hope is for a coach that can guide them through their injury issues that seem so prevelant these days.

lillie and thommo didnt have all these injury dramas so early in their careers. something just aint right with their training schedules, imo.

Thought he was doing a fantastic job, much respect to him and all the best for the future.

Bloody hope they appoint someone half-decent to replace him.

Might be Craig doesn’t want to be part of the establishment of coaches when Alistair starts knocking on the door.

It might appear compromising for Alistair with his father in the coaching job or possibly the other way and go to hard on him.

If it’s Craig giving his son every chance for a normal international career rather than one where his dad’s floating around all the time than that’s a very honourable thing for Craig to do.

yes they did. They both missed huge amounts of cricket during their careers due to injury. In fact Lillee basically was 2 bowlers. A young tearaway quick pre-injury and then a wiley old fox post injury. Both were sensational!

Hopefully heading to jail where he belongs

Did I miss something???

Big loss to CA. Think he brought common sense back into it. Bowl full and let the ball swing!

Need someone like DK Lillee who would have the same approach. Plus Lilleee would know all about refining actions to avoid further injuries.

Disappointing news but I can't blame him for putting family first.

I think part of the reason our bowlers responded to his methods was his stature in the game. He'd walked the walk before talking the talk.

If possible we should try to find a replacement of similar stature. (Sit down Saker.)

Also didn't he have a sex tape or something as well?

Certainly got results in the time he spent with the team.

It's because the kids are mollycoddled, so when they get to be men they haven't learnt to tolerate the battering as kids.

hopefully it'll seem a bigger loss than it is. I mean, the biggest thing McDermott brought was, you know, 'bowl fuller', which was just bloody common sense, so hopefully any replacement will be able to say the same thing

Cricket is mostly common sense, but it isn't too common within CA.

got very lucky with the whole investement property thing....

i'll be interested to see how the bowlers go from here... i've neer been sold on the role of coaches in the international environment... if our bowlers start falling to shit from here i may have to rethink that opinion.....
