Apparently Neil Craig is gonna be on fiveaa today at about 4:30pm for the season review. He usually speaks for about 30 mins. But I'm gonna miss it.

Is there any chance someone can put it on here?

Can you visit their website? They usually upload any significant crows interviews soon after they're aired.

Very good interview with Craigy.

A few things to report on

* We will be looking to add a running midfielder (Craigy said like D Mac) who can run and be an offensive weapon.

* Would look at a Key forward if available (I think this is directed at Pav). Craigy said our forward line is very young.

* Don't need another Ruckman unless a 200cm+ gun was available (sorry Carlton fans, that isn't Jacobs).

*Moran's knee is finally good and will look to put in a big pre-season.

*He said he is really keen to have a look at Smack as a ruck. Said his last 6 weeks in SANFL were really good and the consistency was there. He was on the cusp of a game with Crows.

*The question was asked of who would/could play the Hodge style quarterback role. Mentioned Stiffy and was really pleased with Brodie playing that role against the saints. Mentioned that he may need 2 or 3 players doing this.

I heard the middle bit which was a lot about what we need. I want to know what went wrong.

Agree with all of the above.

He also spoke of the various reviews that had or will take place.

In respect of injuries, he didn't walk away from the fact that he will have to change his methods. He acknowledged that he probably expects too much and training will have to be less intense early and more individual player focussed, particularly for young draftees who don't seem to be able to bear the same work-load and end up shin-sore. (He forgot to metion hamstring injuries which is what usually happens)

He took full responsibility for the mistakes in this area and so he should - he's fkd up many a young draftee with chronic soft tissue injury in their first year, as they're not prepare properly to take on that level of work-load.

He said that we had to change in that area as for 2 years in a row we've started the season off with 14 or so on the injury list.

He said that his performance had to be reviewed as well, and not only believed in that, but insisted on that.

He also spoke of the fact that he has external mentors, but declined to name any of them.

All in all, he spoke for around 30 minutes and was prepared to speak more if they wished, which deserves credit IMO.

I found it thoroughly absorbing, open and honest and wished that their programming could have allowed him to speak longer. :thumbsu:

I forgot to mention that he spoke abut our ruck situation and in particular McKernan and Craig - the latter more about that we didn't get a look at hm through injury (caused by Craig's training IMO).

He said that he was looking forward to next year with McKernan as he had reached the required standard by the end of the year.

The way he was talking, McKernan will be given every chance next year if he has a good pre-season.

God dammit Neil. Leave our young forwards alone.

You've had six years, now go away and leave your negative attitude behind. As a club, I think we've been able to give Neil an opportunity to demonstrate his coaching prowess. It might continue that way, but if it doesn't I don't think that either party can say that we didn't give it our best shot.
Huh? What on earth are you on about Carl?

Was the situation with knighta and griff mentioned at all... Where they're at??

we dont need Pav, we did, but not anymore

I am actually starting to believe that Pav may actually be seriously considering coming back to SA

why would he the Captain of the club not to mention playing in a young side who have made the finals hold out on signing a new deal

if he was 100% going to resign why wouldn't he resign on the door step of the finals to give the team and club a boost leading into the final series

instead they go in with this doubt, under these circumstances its hard to ask your team mates to commit and bleed for the jumper

That's all really good to hear :thumbsu:

I hope we follow through on this and take our foot off the pedal during the preseason.

Nothing at all on Knights that I noticed, but he did speak about Griffin trying to arrange a trade with one of the 2 WA clubs. He mentioned that Griff did want to go home last year, but this year the reasons are different (compassionate)

If no trade then Griffin will stay with us.

Yeah he sounded like he was quite excited by the prospect of Smack rucking. I think Craigy probably see's him in the Ryder type mould that would really suit our game plan.

Mate, Pav is still an absolute gun, either as a forward or a midfielder. If he came at the right price, I'd take him without a second thought.

Yeah, its a strange one, you can understand someone in their early to mid 20's holding off to see if they can get more money out of the club, but I doubt he's going to be able to squeeze anymore out of Freo.

I doubt we are going to be able to outbid Freo for Pav, they will be able to put him on the veteran list which means they only have to pay 50% of his contract so I doubt money will be an issue.

The thing is, Pav won't come cheaply and at his age and history of shoulder issues I am not sure he would be worth it!

As for not being signed, this is nothing out of the ordinary for Pav...he pulls this shit EVERY time he is out of contract. Its his way of levereging offers and getting as much money as he possibly can!
