I wanted to post this here too...

Another problem imo with modern designs is that the predominate and secondary colors of a guernsey should be more like 70:30 ratio. These days so many teams' tops are more like 50:50, or tri-colored ones 33:33:33

When you get so many teams sharing similar colors as well, and they're all making the same mistake, you a) lose originality, b) start getting overly fancy with gradients/swirls/mascots to try to differentiate them. Rather than teams aiming to return to the 70:30 ratios. Essendon's original thin sash for example, or SthMelb's original white red-V, or Footscrays 50's version, with less and cleaner red/white in a predominant blue top.

Eg...Lions, Crows, GCFC....all three with yellow/red/blue, all similar hues, and all (GC not sure yet) too 33:33:33. Better if Lions were 60:20:20 red:blue:yellow. Crows 60:20:20 blue:yellow:red. GCFC 60:20:20 yellow:red:blue. For example.

Bloody hell Cory those Dees guernseys are good, especially the red one.
I love what you've done with the V idea taking into consideration the way their current home guernsey is.

Maybe some inspiration from Smeagle's AGOTW effort?

I like them! What would the bottom one look like with white instead of red under the "V" and on the back? I think that would make an excellent clash guernsey for us!

Good stuff Gibbsyspin, at the moment I'd call that clash you've made the best guernsey on this forum.

Send it in to the AFL and maybe they'll wear it for the international rules series if they finally decide to wear true Aussie sleevless guernseys.

I've just made my first effort at one of these, using the old paint as i don't have paintshop pro. It's basically a saints geurnsey with a sash and an old saints emblem which has been modified by me with the afl symbol to replace the vfl symbol. as i am new, i can't post attatchments until i've notched up 25 posts so i will add it shortly.

we actually have a thread in the Adelaide board to try and design us a better clash strip rather than our terrible red one. Heres my design for it..

You have to upload it.

Smeagle uses paint but I'm not really sure which is better. That Adelaide ones were made like 2 or 3 years ago.
