Re: Create an AFL Guernsey

So basically my intention for this was not exactly for an on-field playing jumper (obviously) but more at a marketing perspective. An extra jumper that can sold as merchandise, autographs, sell at auctions, charities, fan-based merchandise and total product promotion of the GC.

It could also be used as a training jumper, special development games/inter-cub games.

Would this be a big seller? How unique is it?
Before going down that road, the AFL would do better by going down the heritage/retro route.

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey (3)

I use Adobe Photoshop CS3 for the logos, its not that hard once you are used to it! :)

Here's the NMFC concept I came up with.
- I had orignally started this as a circle shape but when I was looking for a monogram I found an old shield logo from the 60's that NMFC used so I made one of a similar shape.
- I couldn't find the original NMFC monogram so I used the one worn on their jumper during their time in the VFA.

*Awesome logo*

My attempt at a Hawthorn logo, kept it pretty plain.

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey (3)

Thought I'd have a go at the shield type logos aswell.

A clash/away jumper for North. My mates well-up with tears each time they see the Kangaroos sporting the sky-blue strip.

Alot better than the Argentina clash strip this is like a version of the North board favourite Blue with the White V. Really like what you've done with it.

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey (3)

Potential name clash - well, with me anyway
Back in 1997, I remember going to a Richmond v Western Bulldogs game, and the Dogs' mascot walked out with this RIDICULOUS SILVER "STEEL" HEAD  on top of the old "Bulldog Ruckle" costume. As part of the WB rebranding, they'd decided to have some bizarre futuristic steel-headed bulldog as a mascot. Thank goodness they put that dog to sleep after that year.

Was thinking that if you want a Tasmanian fish, why not Tasmanian Atlantic Salmon? :D

I'll give the Tasmanian Salmon a chance through the week. Probably won't have time though cause I have gotta study for Year 10 School Certificate.

Re: Create an AFL Guernsey (3)

Ive just been reading a book called Urge to Merge by Ian and John Ridley. It is about the almost merger of Melbourne and Hawthorn in 1996 from the perspective of then Melbourne President, Ian Ridley.

In the early part of the book it explains a couple of the merger attempts that Melbourne encountered in 1986/87. These were North Melbourne, Richmond and Fitzroy. The Melbourne/Fitzroy merger got as far as deciding on a name, Melbourne Lions, who would be on the board and a jumper design.

Ridley say the main reason about it not being announced already was Fitzroy asked to hold off until they found our how much money they made at the door of a gala they were running. Ridley and others decided if their clubs future was hanging on what Fitzroy took at the door they didnt want to be involved, so pulled out before the anouncement was made.

Here's the jumper design that Ridley describes in the book, he says it looked like the current Brisbane Lions design (book was written in 2001)
