So after watching it in one game the new ODI kit really is just a confusing kit design. Always looked like a mismatch of 2 different shirts with the 2003 throwback on the sides but new different Indigenous design on the shoulders but now for some weird reason they kept the old iron on numbers from the last kit which is a totally different darker green colour to the rest of the new kit, so it’s like a 3rd different element chucked on the shirt now for good measure.

Mark Waugh not being filled in about the Indigenous design and saying on commentary that it looked like a small dog had left paw prints on the shoulders of the shirt was an interesting bit of broadcasting…

So anyway, if you couldn’t tell from my previous posts - earlier in the year I had the opportunity to work with NB to design the new Adelaide Strikers W/BBL kit. Big shout out to the team at Belgravia/New Balance as well for all of their work in bringing the range to life!

The key design element to call out here is the triangular pattern has featured heavily on the creative this season, and is a stylised interpretation of the inner roof structures of Adelaide Oval with all the beams overlapping, forming triangles in the negative spaces with the blur/motion representing the energy and excitement of Big Bash. Another key feature is the return to the true Strikers blue, which has been absent off a lot of the past kits.

Always worth acknowledging that without my extensive time on this forum that allowed me to grow as a graphic designer, the opportunities I’ve had likely would not have come, so appreciative to everyone that’s been a part of the journey.

Now I’m hoping to get to Rebel at some stage tomorrow before flying out to Perth for the week to tick off a bucket list item of mine - seeing something I designed hanging up on the racks of a retail store. 🥲

update: bucket list item complete ✅

I complain about BBL being too uniformed but in my bias opinion we probably have the best t20 league kits here. The league might be privatised soon and it might bring some individuality to the kits but hope the standards don’t drop
