I'm appalled and, yes, surprised. Being dickheads sometimes is a long way from cheating. I believe when they say they haven't done it before - given they did such a crap job at it - and expect they built up such resentment and us v them on this tour they lost their minds. But you can't do this and keep playing for Australia, whatever other countries have or haven't done to captains before. That footage of Lehman talks to Hanscomb talks to Paine talks to Bancroft who moves tape to his pants makes it look like they were all in on this stupid plan. Where do we go from here?

Faf Du Plessis was convicted of ball tampering three times now and he is still SA captain.

Agree Smith should go for this but the Soutj Africans have no right to be taking the high moral ground today.

While I think any Australians involved in this incident should receive the full force of cricketing law I do believe that Faf has had a bit of an armchair ride when you consider his record. There were suspicions he was using mints earlier in the series but that seemed to be glossed over and the infield umpires had to tell him to advise his team not to bounce the ball into the keeper from the outfield,which was an obvious ploy to scuff the ball. We do deserve to cop it for this one though.

It's the old story - you keep pushing the envelope and proclaiming your innocence and getting away with it... Then one day, you wake up and wonder how you got to where you are. I reckon it hasn't sunk into Smith completely yet. By all accounts, one of the most admired australian cricket captains, society wide, over the last 20 years. Yet, here he is front and centre in the worst scandal in australian cricket history. The underarm saga can sort of be laughed off as a troll - you can't laugh this off...

Completely agree. Faf has bee done twice before, mints and using a zipper, while Verlander got caught for the zipper trick. Meanwhile, Dale Steyn continues his run of piety on Twitter

I don't think Australian cricket is in a place where losing Smith is a viable option tbh.

You actually have to be in the test team to captain it...

It was worse behaviour than the footy.

Talk of two year suspensions or life bans is nonsense. There is a penalty under ICC rules, and it's demerit points and a fine of your match fee.
