In what regard?

Click the link. It shows his output has been pretty much the same. At the very least, he hasn't "dropped off" in his output in any area. It's most of the team around him that has.

The impact seems less and he isn't getting the hype and attention because the Dogs aren't winning (there was an element of overhype at play in 2016, too), and Jackson Macrae is putting up far sexier numbers than he comparitively did in 2016 too, now that he's spending more time on the ball than on the outside.

Now, whether people were expecting Bontempelli to have improved and improved more than he has, that's another issue. You could say it's been somewhat disappointing that he's basically remained around the same level for a few years, but IMO he's still got improvement in him, and development is never a direct upward trajectory. Him reaching a good level early in his career doesn't mean that he has more potential than anyone else though.

Good post.

Its not like he's ever played in a losing margin of 186

Honestly mate, we will let you know when we go to games thinking getting smashed by 60 isn't too bad
100 points to team as bad as Melbourne... how does that one feel champ?

Not as bad as 186 lol

Or when you got your members pack for finals last year

Anyway Cripps BOG and Oliver minimal impact today

I must have peppered your angus pretty good to extract this response hahahaha

So in other words you didn't see the game. I don't blame you mate.

Good luck next week, hope you turn it around soon!
Iol Cripps was BOG, clearly the best player on the field.

Do you want me to describe what winning an important match feels like?

Not BOG for s**t. Had McDonald, Jones and Gawn all well above him with other Demons a chance too.

Nah Jones definitely had more impact, basically matched Cripps inside and was definitely more productive on the outside.

Melksham and ANB better too.
Forgot about Melksham.

But I disagree regarding Jones.

Nobody could have gotten outside ball in this Carlton team unless Cripps was giving it to them.

Cripps was good today. But nowhere near BOG. He was probably the 1st/2nd best mid with Jones. Gawn and McDonald were clearly the best 2 players on the field though.

Cripps is a beast of a player but he really needs to polish up his foot skills. When posters say he is tidy or a good kick that’s just incorrect. For a mid he is an objectively bad kick. Gives it too much hang time and doesn’t kick through the ball. Currently a top 15ish player in the league, fix up his kicking he will be top 5. Still love the way he plays in saying that.

Both coaches felt Jones was better.

CARLTON v MELBOURNE
10 Jake Melksham (Melb)
8 Tom McDonald (Melb)
6 Nathan Jones (Melb)
2 Max Gawn (Melb)
2 Jake Lever (Melb)
1 Patrick Cripps (Carl)
1 Alex Neal-Bullen (Melb)

This is because we beat you and also that Merrett should be replaced with Oliver in this poll right?

I think the footy world is also very quick to move onto the next best thing. Bont is basically the same player he was since 2016 which isn't a bad thing but meanwhile Kelly, Cripps and Merrett (until this season) have all improved their games a fair bit.

His development is directly tied into the condition of his hip. He can maintain this level he's currently at while playing impaired but if he is to consistently play at superstar level which he has shown in periods, he needs to get the hip right.

Is surgery required or is it just a time based thing? Surely if he needs rest you don't jeopardise 10 years of a great career for a season that looks shot?

Nah clearly the Carlton fans know more than Bolton does
