The Adelaide Football Club wishes to advise that it has delisted three players after the completion of trade week.

Kris Massie, Luke Jericho and Bryce Campbell were told on Monday that they will not be contracted with the Crows for the 2009 season.

Massie, 28, leaves Adelaide after playing 131 AFL games after being traded from Carlton in 2002. Massie played 88 games for Adelaide including his 100th AFL game against Hawthorn in Round 15, 2006.

Jericho, 23, played 33 AFL games for Adelaide after being drafted from West Adelaide at no.32 in the 2002 national draft. He kicked 31 goals after making his debut in 2004 against St Kilda.

Campbell, 24, was drafted from Norwood at pick 78 in the 2006 national draft and has played eight games for Adelaide including seven in 2008. He made his debut against Essendon in Round 17 last year.

General Manager of Football Operations John Reid said: “We thank them all for their commitment to the club and wish them well in their future endeavours. Kris in particular has given the club great service playing 88 games for Adelaide and six pre-season games.”

Adelaide has now made six changes to the 2008 primary list. The other players no longer with the Crows are Rhett Biglands (retired), Nathan Bassett (retired) and Ken McGregor (retired).

Adelaide at this stage will have six picks (TBC) 10, 28, 44, 60, 76 and 92 at the AFL national draft in November.

well I guess most people picked it. Sorry to See Kris go to be honest.

Which of the three are likely to get picked up. I would guess Jericho? Massie has age against him. Campbell, no.

Dissapointed Massie left but thats footy I wih him all the best. :thumbsu:

It was the right decision to let these players go even though I am a fan of Campbell & Massie....not so much jericho ;)

Talent wise Massie should have stayed but ladder position, age of the list and general development of the side suggest the club made the correct decision.

So as a footy guernsey numbers person, we have the following available:

3, 16, 30, 31, 32, 35 (probably to be taken by Dangerfield), 39

Kris Massie has always been one of my favourite Crows players, at least we could pretty much see it coming so today its not so much of a shock, unlike Torney last year.

He would have to be, that I know of, one of the nicest and friendliest players at the Club. He was always prepared to chat, always said hello and was pretty much an overall nice guy.

I wish him all the best for the future, perhaps he will be playing at Norwood next year, and if so, look forward to seeing him play then :)

Not suprising really, shame to see Massie go, although sadly I think his bad history with injury has worked against him, we needed to move on at least 1 or 2 of the old guard and I think it might have come down to ability to get on the park consistently, something that just isn't Massie's strong point. I wish him all the best, he did extremely well to extend his career so long and I don't think he can be too dissapointed with what he has achieved.

The other 2, well, I wouldn't write either off yet, with the proposed GC and WS teams coming in, they may find themselves a home as these teams look to add some battle hardened AFL experienced players to their lists, wouldn't be suprised to see either of these 2 as well as some other delisted players from around the country moving up to the Gold Coast and perhaps Sydney to improve their exposure to these new sides.

Terrific bloke and if they retained players on that basis, Massie would be on the list for-ever. I'd say that's the end of his AFL career GC, and he will be playing for Norwood next year IMO.

Can't see Campbell being picked up, but Jericho is a huge chance IMO to get another crack at it by being picked up by another club. Good luck to them. :)

I think we may struggle down back for medium tall defenders now that both Bassett and Massie are gone.

Stevens may have to stay down back. Not sure Kite will be quite ready next year.

But isn’t that the point regarding development?

If we kept Massie around – he would have been that crutch to lean on, now we have no other option but to develop someone new and young for that exact role.

what is it with the crows and players in Massie/Hart/Torney/Mattner's position?
it seems we delist one of these in disappointing circumstances every season

I think we should have delisted atleast 1 more player. This draft is considered deep and rich of talent, and next year the group of draftable kids will be around 30% weaker, and the years following that, Gold Coast and West Sydney will raid most of the talent in the drafts

No bassett, no massie.. Wheres the medium size mobile backman?

Terrible decision on massie i think.. Good year this year, played some great games..

And yes a terrific person, one of the nicest involved in footy..

That's right but I guess my question is who? Throw Kite in at the deep end perhaps. Maybe Gallman is earmarked for this role?

Will be an intersteing year next year for sure.

I can't see what Gallman has over Massie. Only age. I can't see how Gallman will be much of a better player than Massie.. Very disappointed. I was a fan of Massie and I think he still has a lot to offer. If he didn't get injuries at such crucial times he'd still be on our list. He was in hot form last year and missed the first part of this season, effectively putting him down the pecking order a bit. However he worked his way back in and then got injured again I think. Unlucky. The other 3 delistings were expected..

20 bucks says carlton pick up Jerricho in ths PSD..... ok not 20 bucks but It wouldn't suprise me

Sad about Massie did all he could to stay but all clubs would be doing this with the whole Gold coast arrival they need to blood the youngens!
