I'm assuming he's including rookie listed players, which would bring the total up to 21. Not too far off 24 I guess.

Can anyone confirm for me whether Brian Donnelly goes on a "separate" rookie list or if he ends up on the group of six? Iv'e heard conflicting answers over the past month.

He definitely counts as part of our rookie list but no-one else can take him. He automatically becomes our 6th rookie, leaving us with 5 spots to fill if none of this year's rookies are retained (unlikely).

No surprises there.

Campbell - was always a 1 or 2 year gamble as a mature age recruit.

Jericho - less said the better.....but just one of those players that can't take the next step.

Massie - got more out of his career than some did with twice the talent. One of those perenial team men who had to work at maintaining a spot in the side.....unlike some who don't really seem to value their career quite as much. Unfortunately the "Torney Rule" has claimed another victim. Seemingly unfair.....but just the way it has to be.

Shirley's luck continues, Gill is insurance, and Gallman can hopefully have a breakthrough year in the SnAFL next year

Can't believe the stick Gallman is getting.I go to the SANFL most weeks and see my fair share of players from all teams and Gallman has real ability.
This kid has a fair bit of promise but needs to get some quality game time in the league team for North.
He is a good size,has speed,is very disciplined and still young.Give the kid a break.Will be ear marked for a defensive role
Maybe I'm at different games to some of you blokes.
Good call Crows I would rather go with a young bloke who has these attributes.
Really hope he surprises some of the posters here because he is well worth a punt!

Vader has been adamant that all teams get an extra 2 rookies this year as some sort of compensation got the GC coming into the comp.

If he's right then it's 2 veterans and 6 rookies.

The big question always has been whether that is this year or next year.

Slightly off topic, but apparently a lot of the clubs from around pick 50 onwards will be drafting primarily lbottom agersl, and drafting the 'top agers' in the rookie draft. This is for 2 reasons. 1 Gold Coast and 2 Draft Age Eligiblity changes next year.

So theoretically with all these rookie picks and extra draft picks and what not, next years draft won't be super strong.

Unless an absolute gem has fallen past pick 50 that makes absolute sense.

I had already thought that If I were drafting for Adelaide that picks 54 and 72 would be dedicated to talented bottom age players who were likely to be much higher in next year's draft.

You could compare it to banking for the future..

As for next year's draft, which is only 2/3rds of a draft because of the increase in age eligibilty, you're right. It was always going to be a much lesser draft, and if a heap of bottom age players are taken this year, then it will be even worse than originally anticipated.

Would assume so since Dangerfield, Walker and Kite were all bottom agers?

Im pretty sure that rule hasnt existed for years. FOr instance you guys had Walker and Dangerfield on your list this year.
