Seriously, everyone should try and get down to the Parade tomorrow night. It will be a ripper, and the added interest is not Maric v The Meese, but possibly having the chance to meet Drummond. :p

so was anyone there to tell us how Meeson V Maric went - oh and Gibson v Stevens

I have a feeling one of these 4 may be needed next week
Agreed. I doubt that Gibson will get a game this year. He might get 1 or maybe 2 but don't expect him in AFL 2006.

I agree with this. If we don't bring in another tall, i'm hoping like hell it's wet. If we get a dry day, and with our current tall structure, Port will kill us in the air. I hope we bring in Maric and let Biglands spend more time on the FF line. He is looking quite dangerous when moved up forward for short stints. Leave him there for longer periods, who knows he may kick 4 or 5.

Ebert and Rucci both said Maric was brilliant last night. Surely he will get a call up soon.

BTW Meeson was third best for Norwood.

Good signs-both kids can play.

When is the key thing.

There is just no spot for them atm.

Clarke and Biglands are doing the job although they are not dominating.

Biglands better up forward today.

Our work at contests around the ground was also very effective.

Who do you drop?

Our side currently has enough young players. You cannot afford to have too many. They will have to bide their time. Their time will come.

How did the Mr Country Music "Chad Gibson" go? To me his developement is crucial to our structre in the next few years, particualrly with the departure of Fergus.

Gibson only had 5 touches. Haven't been to the game so I can't comment on his opponent.

In the paper today Meesen was 3rd best for Norwood and had something like 17 touches, 5 mark, 15 hitouts and 5 or 9 tackles. Maric had 9 possesions, 6 or 7 marks, 20 hitouts and kicked a goal.

I think we could see the return of Scott Stevens against Port. He had a good game from all accounts.

Maric v Meeson - I think Maric was the winner. I wouldnt have had Meeson so high up Norwood. Around the ground he just sort of lumbered around...he didnt have much of an impact...though not many for Norwood did. Maric fed the Port midfiedlers pretty well all night. Around the ground he wasnt as good as hes been in previous weeks, though wasnt really the conditions for him to take plenty of marks.

Stevens v Gibson - Well Gibson got a pasting really. Stevens was very good. Really got the Pies going in the first half and provided a confident target. Gibson had a poor night but I wouldnt read too much into it.

Douglas kicked at least one goal and set up a couple i think. But he was certainly outclassed by the Rampaging Rocket Roosters!

In your opinion is Nick Gill worth a shot on an AFL list?

That's a tough one actually.
Personally, I would love to see him stay at North for the rest of his career.

His kicking is very hot and cold, missed some sitters today, yet he did grab the ball out of a ruck contest and snap it over his shoulder from the boundary line for a freak goal.
One Bay bloke said to me he thinks Gilly may need to bulk up a little to get a game, whether thats true or not im not sure. Hes already been on Melbourne's list and he was attached to the Kangas as well I think.

Some players cant quite make it at the top level, but dominate in the second tier and Gill may be that kinda player. He is a champion though, if you get the chance go to a North game and watch this bloke in action, you will cream your dacks.

I think that he would be worth a shot, although as RoosterLad said from a North Adelaide perspective I would hate to see him go.

He is definately an excitement machine with his big pack marks, but he is also great on the ground. He's quick and agile and he has a high level of fitness that enables him to roam all over the ground for 4 quarters. He chases and tackles hard and is a good team player.

Having said that I can see why he isn't currently on a list. His kicking at times is atrocious (I think he has kicked something like 20-18 for the year). Part of the reason for that is that he kicks the ball 1 way and that is hard. Whether he is 10 or 50 metres out he gives it a big roost and as a result if he doesn't connect sweetly it goes all over the place.

Another reason I think is that he doesn't seem to fit with the modern AFL style. He will always look to play-on and take a few blokes on and if it works it's spectacular but if it doesn't in today's AFL he would get murdered with every turnover resulting in a goal.

His unpredictability would also turn a few coaches off as you just don't know what you are going to get from him.

If he continues in the sort of form he is showing for the year I think he is a real chance for an AFL list as well as the Magarey as he certainly catches the umpires eye.

If you compare him to some other KPP's currently on AFL lists in Adelaide eg Thurstans, Stevens, White, Chaplin, Gibson etc, you've answered the question.

How many of them have dominated games at SANFL level? He's a great mark, has a commanding presence, is a good team palyer and superbly fit. The only reason he's not on a list is his kicking and we've seen that skill can be improved (think Tredrea and Perrie of a few years ago).

Gill is definitely worth a shot on an AFL list. He has that X-factor and while he may miss the odd one in front, he also kicks them from the boundary. At 23, he is in his prime and with the form he has shown, would slot into most starting 18's around the AFL at the moment.
