I watched the Pear v Magpies match during the week to cheer myself up. Collingwood have manic pressure at the moment, a bit like Richmond at their peak, and the Pear midfield totally dissolved.
Their midfield is talented but youngish (Rozee, JHF, Butters, Drew plus Wines and possibly Boak) just not as young as our midfield. Lycett is struggling but has beaten Rob in the past.
Their tall forwards are good if the ball comes in under little or no pressure but rarely rack up contested marks. IMHO, the key dangers in attack are their medium/small forwards and their midfielders.
Their defence is possibly worst than ours and that is saying a bit. Jonas cooked, Aliir unaccountable, Clurey-meh,
Bonner -meh, Two dads- turnover merchant.
If we keep pressuring them and kick straight, Iām telling you weāre a chance.

Hmm, I think the total opposite (I think you guys have a better chance this weekend than we do).
Replicate the third quarter from last week, but for longer and convert your opportunities and you are every chance to win. The pieces are there, you arenāt a bad team at all. Just need to find that consistency, but it will start with full effort. If Nicks can no longer get the buy in in terms of basic effort, then he is on the road out of the job. Heāll be gone before Ken.
We are absolutely a bad team.

It's honestly wild that they still care about us. They routinely thrash us. We're pitiful against them. A significant cohort of their current team has experienced basically nothing but humiliating us constantly whilst we meekly roll over and take it.
They get to to do all of the impotent chest beating and trick shots and prison bar grabbing while beating a bottom team bullshit that their fans go so wild for.
Why on earth does this provoke bitterness? We're the Washington Generals.
I guess there is always the risk we become a well ran club.
Well not quite, despite repeated explanations its not meant to be a positive thread, its meant to be an optimists thread, there's an important difference.
1970 got off to an early start to create this thread, mustve been really looking forward to it.

I wish I could help you get a good night's sleep or enjoy a win.
Port were hammered by the Pies last game, but McRae's boys are flying and beat them with run-on speed (when they had the ball) and pressure (when they didn't).
So far this year the Crows can do both, but only for 1.5 to 2 quarters/game as you've no doubt noticed.
It's cool here and cloudy; gonna be about 15/16 degrees and decreasing come game time, so it might be dewy and a bit slippery.
Firewalker pointed out that Port has outmarked the Crows by around 40/game, the last 4 times we lost to them.
Gonna be interesting to see:
--- who takes Aliir and Dixon, and
--- who runs with (or over or through, I wish!) JHF and Rozee, and
--- if whoever is on Marshall spuds it up and makes him look like Lockett, and
--- if Nicks shows some imagination, and
--- if they kick straight (Walker + Rankine + Rachele + Gollant could be potent if the ball comes in well to them).
I just re-read that. It's a lot to ask for.
I want a Crows win, of course, but I reckon Port by at least 5 goals. If they touch us up, Nicks will be on the Green Mile.

Weāve never gone into a game sriecting anything but the side that we think gives us the best chance of winning. We lose games because weāre not good enough, not hevsuse we donāt want to win.
