Stop worrying about our Forward line, worry about the midfield and exactly who you are going to play in the forward line.

You have to stop the running of;

Buckley, Burns, Licuria, O'bree, Woey, Lonie, Didak, Lockyer.

And our backline is rock solid.

Buckley's stats the last six times he has played against Adelaide. As you can see, if you stop Buckley from getting over 20 possies, you don't necessarily stop Collingwood, ala Preliminary Final.

While it might not stop Collingwood, it certainly would be a big big help!!!

With an average of almost 31 disposals over his last 6 games against us, it's no wonder I'm sick of the sight of him with the ball!!

Oh and I do realise Adelaide has a very good midfield, don't worry about that. But do you have the depth?

Crows probably have better depth than Collingwood do.

You named: Buckley, Burns, Licuria, O'bree, Woey, Lonie, Didak, Lockyer.

I Name: Stenglein, Ricciuto, McLeod, Goodwin, Edwards, Ladhams, Bode, Bickley.

After that Crows have Doughty, Gallagher & Reilly.

... & what of Buck's would Fat Eddie be holding? ;)

You guys have forgotten Benny Hart, in form & has been successful in the past when given the job on talls,

Smart on Fraser
Hart on Tarrent,

if Roo plays out goes Gallagher or Crowell, but as you say Stiffy Begley could be the smokey,

Since it appears that Ben Marsh in unavailable, I was thinking more along the lines:

Hart on Tarrant
Smart on Rocca
McGregor on Fraser
Bassett on Molloy

Torney on Molloy or Tarrant is not out of the question either;)

Those were off the top of my head. We also have, Mark McGough, Heath Scotland and you have players like Cole and Lokan coming through ranks.

Matchups?

Well assuming that the Pies use the same squad as last week, Ill have a crack at some of the matchups.

FB: Smart, Hart, Torney
FF: Fraser, Tarrant, Didak

HB: Johnc ock, McGregor, Bassett
HF: Davis, Rocca, Molloy

C: Doughty, Stenglein, Ladhams
C: Woewodin, Buckley, Lockyer

HF: Bode, Stevens, Edwards
HB: Shaw, Wakelin, Burns

FF: Burns, Perrie, Riccuito
FB: Clement, Prestigiacomo, Cloke

R: Biglands, Goodwin, McLeod
R: McKee, O'Bree, Licuria

I: Clarke, Burton, Bickley, Reilly, Mattner, Begley
I: Scotland, Lonie, Williams, Betheras, Johnson, Lokan

E: Rutten, Gallagher, Crowell

Looks about right. My only concern is that Fraser might be too tall for Smart. Maybe if we get Smart to match up on Rocca and McGregor to take on Fraser. We make up a bit of height difference with Kenny being 195 cm and Fraser around 200 cm. I
I would probably start with Clarke in the ruck, and I doubt Ayery will start Burton on the bench. I think Burton will start instead of Doughty.

I would like to see Begley but since Crowell is coaching panel's love child he will get the nod even if he doesn't deserve it.

Heard a rumour that the King could be a late call up to take his place in the side.

Can anyone tell me how Hentschel is going with the eagles??????;)

Just play him.

We didnt recruit him to play at the Roosters. What will he benefit from playing there?

We want him to play AFL footy, so play him in an AFL match. If they dont play him this week then the Crows should hold their own internal trail next week. Don't send him to North.

I cannot help but feel its a bit of a PR campaign for the Roosters. If he is ready to play this weekend, I would much rather play him in the Wizard Cup than with the Roosters. Having said that, I think he will sit out this weekend and play next week in Rosters' internal trial which will not be as physically demanding as playing in the Wizard Cup.

Prefer McGregor to start @ CHB & only move if a Pies forward is on fire. Burton will probably start, but I'm trying to give a message to Ayres that he doesn't deserve to & benching him will give him kick up the arse for being stupid the last couple of weeks. Probably right about Crowell too. Heard the King rumour, but my sources are that AFC don't want to play him to round 1 - I can't see them changing their mind.

IMO McGregor is twice the player at CHB than in a pocket as a tall defender. Kane's right - he should start at CHB and only move elsewhere if really needed.

I would be amazed if Carey plays - you don't risk a season for a wok!!

Another thought I had was that Licuria usually plays well against us. Why not turn the tables & play Mattner on him to throw the McLeod tag???

Good point about Licuria. Not sure, but isn't this his first game for the year? If it is match fitness might find him out.

Pretty sure Lica played last week. Probably didn't play a full game though.

After hearing all the hoo-ha from fat Eddie last night, I'm wondering if there will be two teams playing on Saturday night.

Fat Eddie himself will be wired up, going through the C/Wood rooms, Micky Malthouse will be giving a pre-game speech, and at half-time there will be a big "do" for Lou Richards, who's having his 80th birthday.

Does anyone actually believe the Crows can win this game? I'm wavering between a 4 to 6 goal loss.

BTW, if y'all want to see us South Aussies humiliated on Thursday night, just watch the Footy Show. Newman did his Street Talk here, and KG and Cornsey will also be appearing. Major cringe time.

I always believe we can win.

If there is anything to be learnt from our history, we are ALWAYS a chance.

I believe at this stage of the season the Pies are more settled than us and with the home ground advantage are clear favourites.

We have been in this situation before and can pull it off though.

Spot on. It does appear that Eddie's mob is far more settled than we are. We haven't really showed anywhere near our best during the Wizard Cup. As you said I believe that we can do it but having said that it would be a fantastic effort if we beat the pies. All the aspect are in their favour. I think we are big underdogs but that when we play some of the best footy.

I have a couple of worries:

Forward Line: While Perrie has been a revelation during the Wizard Cup, I still feel we are far from settled. Stevens is not match fit and is out of form, although he showed glimpses in the 4th quarter against the roos. I also think we don't play enough crumbers around our key forwards. I think our structure needs a lot of work

Defense: The height of Collingwood in the forward line could prove the difference. At times they play 4 talls in their forward line with Rocca, Fraser, Tarrant and Molloy. The 2 that worry me the most are Rocca and Fraser. Kenny can match up on one of them but the other will cause a major mismatch that can be exploited.

I think we can win the midfield but MUST keep Buckley reasonably quite.

Cheers.

So the rumour could be true after all. got this from www.afl.com

Crows name Carey

Boom Adelaide recruit Wayne Carey could make his first official appearance for the Crows in Saturday’s Wizard Cup grand final against Collingwood.

Carey was named in the Crows’ 28 man squad on Thursday, having failed to take part in the earlier rounds of the pre-season competition due to a back-related hamstring.

The former Kangaroos’ premiership captain’s only appearance for Adelaide was in a low-key practice match back in early February.

The Crows will also be bolstered on Saturday night by the return of skipper Mark Ricciuto, who will also make his first appearance of the pre-season.

Ricciuto has missed the Crows’ first three matches of the Wizard Cup, having been recovering from post-season ankle surgery.

Former skipper Mark Bickley, who has had an interrupted pre-season due to lingering problems from the broken leg he suffered last season, was also named in the Crows’ squad.

The Magpies’ 28 man squad is basically the same squad that has been so impressive in their earlier wins over Carlton, Geelong and Hawthorn.

However goalsneak Brodie Holland and defender Ben Johnson, who are both yet to play in the Wizard Cup, were named while Glen Freeborn is still an absentee.

And promising first year player Matthew Lokan – who has been so impressive across half-back during the Wizard Cup – also kept his place in the Magpies’ squad.

SQUADS:
Adelaide: Andrew Crowell, Wayne Carey, Matthew Clarke, Ronnie Burns, Nigel Smart, Nathan Bassett, Tyson Edwards, Matthew Bode, Michael Doughty, Jason Torney, Ken McGregor, Graham John****, Mark Stevens, Tyson Stenglein, James Gallagher, Ian Perrie, Andrew McLeod, Brett Burton, Mark Bickley, James Begley, Ben Marsh, Mark Ricciuto, Brent Reilly, Ben Hart, Rhett Biglands, Simon Goodwin, Martin Mattner, Chris Ladhams

Collingwood: Rupert Betheras, Scott Burns, Nathan Buckley, James Clement, Jason Cloke, Richard Cole, Leon Davis, Alan Didak, Josh Fraser, Brodie Holland, Ben Johnson, Ben Kinnear, Paul Licuria, Tarkyn Lockyer, Matthew Lokan, Ryan Lonie, Steve McKee, Jarrod Molloy, Shane O'Bree, Simon Prestigiacomo, Anthony Rocca, Heath Scotland, Rhyce Shaw, Chris Tarrant, Shane Wakelin, Tristian Walker, Andrew Williams, Shane Woewodin
____________________________________________________

I would bring in Ricciuto and Carey in at the expense of Andrew Crowell and James Gallagher

Would it surprise a lot of you if he plays??????
