I would just like to caution people that a podiatrist is not a doctor and is certainly not a surgeon.
What he says may be right and I'm sure he's good at what he does but I'd still be waiting to hear what Swan's actual surgeon says.

Is Swanny underrated?Totally agree. To me he is incredibly underrated and should be viewed on the same level as Bucks and Daicos.
Either I overrate him, or others underrate him. I consider him to have been the equal of Judd, Ablett Jr, Buckley, Hird and Voss. Very few others would agree with me. Sam Mitchell is the other whom who I'd put in the same underrated category. Both of them are unfashionable superstars. Is Swanny underrated?

Agree even to the extent of saying he is a level or 2 above Daics. Daics never dominated the competition like Swanny did.

lets not get carried away, look at his stats prior to doing his knee, didnt pull on the big V 5 times for being a slouch
Ummm no. Daicos would have been just as prolific a mid as Swan if not for his dodgy knees. Even then he was able to kick 90+ goals in a season as a small forward, numbers traditionally reserved for key forwards.Agree even to the extent of saying he is a level or 2 above Daics. Agree. But to say Swan is a level or two above him is a bit of a stretch. Talent-wise I'd take Daicos every day of the week. Swan has him well and truly covered for durability though.Daics was jaw-droppingly brilliant and a revolutionary in terms of being bale to predict and control the bounce of the ball, but his body stopped him from ever being particularly close to the most dominant player in the league.

He dominated plenty.
Really? This isn't a case of whether or not Daicos was as good as Swan in the midfield, he clearly was if you'd ever seen him play there. It's a matter of his durability, and that was my point given I was responding to the assertation that Swan is a class or two above what Daicos was....and I'd have played 700 games if I was good at football and I got drafted when I was 4.
He played as a half forward flanker in those years. Before injuries, he'd just moved into being a primary midfielder and I think he would have been the best ever if he had have been fit, but alas it didn't happen. He was an amazing forward who had the potential to be a great midfielder.People remember daicos the forward pocket, daicos the midfielder was devastating. Twice topped our goal kicking list as a ruck rover that rested at half forward with 76 and 58 goals, how many midfielders get that sort of return. Saved our arse in a final against north kicking 6 in a quarter, same year kicked 9 in a game twice all while playing as a ruck rover. After having effectively 2 years out with foot and knee injuries came back won the copland, made the vfl team of the year and represented victoria, as a midfielder.
He was moved to forward pocket after the game had got to fast for him to play midfield, but never underestimate how good a midfielder he was in his prime.

Daicos played 249 games. Not that many behind Swan.
