Gerard Healy allegedly said on 3AW that Patrick Dangerfield was the best 19 years old he has seen since Gary Ablett jn.

Wasn't Gary Ablett Jnr pretty shit as a 19 year old? Always had the talent, but just never the application, its only been the past 3-4 years that he's put it all together to become the complete package?

Which doesn't mean anything, as Jnr was not that highly rated as a nineteen year old.

He was not the golden child prodigy who was tipped to go number one or the superstar he is now, but saying that he was not a surprise packet either.

If he didn’t go as a F/S pick to Geelong, would have been selected in the top 10 of his draft. But saying that, this is just my opinion.

Interseting point. I cant remember back now to the lead to his draft year. The hype was probably due to his dad more than anything.

I think I let out a squeal of excitment at my desk today when i heard on the radio, got quite a random look from the girl infront of me. Whooo congrats to Patty! I'm so happy for him!:D well deserved

Think he was rated a 2nd rounder. Definitely not a top 10.
But remember he started his career as a forward pocket so can understand why he was not rated that highly. Always showed glimpses of brilliance, but never the consistency that he does now.

As James said, it's only the last 3-4 years (after he was told some home truth) that he worked his butt off and build up the tank to push into the midfield and dominate regularly.

Really well - as always.

Thought it wasn't really anything we haven't heard before. Pre season troubles/Drafting hoo ha with the Doughty clone Ebert/Not going home etc.

He bought a boat last week. That was cool.

Is it just me or does Cornes still sound remarkably bitter about the Ebert thing?

Just heard his interview on 5AA. Spoke very well. All credit to Rendell and co for taking a punt on the boy who was always going to stay in Geelong to finish school.

Been listening to Russell too much

Cornes is an old school idot

today was the first time I listen to the show over the net for years and now I know why I have not listen for so long

FFS Cornes still defends Wallace's coaching record

Cornes just does not know how to interview or how to ask a good question

Spoke very well. A lot to like about him.

First I've ever heard that show, but gee Cornes was an awful interviewer. A lot of rubbish, and the way he posed the question about going home was awful. Yeah it's a question to ask, but it could have been put to him a lot better.

Let me get in first by saying he will be Nathan Van berlos successor as the captain of this football club, wow what an impressive young man.

i will still be hanging out for that contract signature but have no doubt he has quality written all over him. Very impressive. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Champ! :thumbsu:

What an enormously impressive young man! :thumbsu:

He interviewed brilliantly. This kid just seems to have it all, maturity, personality, talent, build, athletic ability. A complete package. He will no doubt be a captain of the club one day.

Appreciate it James, one less thing for me to do tonight! :p I'm not home at the moment but I'll listen to it when I get home. I remember the Crows always saying Dangerfield has immense leadership potential and that was one of the reasons they rated him so highly, in addition to his playing ability.

I'll probably still get the Bock interview and put that up.

Dangerfield is now 8/1 (2nd Fav) to win the award

Otten (7th), Walker (8th) and Petrenko (10th) are all in the top 10

one club to have 4 players in the top 10 of betting is an amazing effort
