Two first round picks won't hurt us long-term. We built our three premierships on players from Pick 30 on in the draft, and only Selwood, Bartel and Mackie were top ten.

Top ten picks are overrated anyway (how many teams who tanked for early picks have gone on to win flags- that's right- zero).

So we will back in flag contention within three to five years, with our promising youngsters having 100-150 games in them by then, and we will still have Selwood, Harry Taylor, and Hawkins, and of course, Danger.

You claim to have a better list then us, yet only finished a game and a half ahead next year. Without Dangerfield, how many more will you win then us next year, do you think?

Where will Adelaide be by then?

Finished a game and a half after undoubtedly the most difficult season any team has had to deal with

You drew with Saints and lost to Pies

Our season after July 3 was the epitome of inconsistency
The position on the ladder flattered you

Maybe two firsts and a second
They have to rebuild ....they'll want to keep a second round

Iam confident of the two first round picks ......not confident we'll get a player BF is happy with ...Smedts i'd suggest may be the player or Dean Gore

Frankly the list with still lots of oldies doesn't impress me

I doubt it will be players. It will be picks 1st this year and 1st or 2nd next.....

Should be interesting.

When are the Crows eligible for father-son?

Hope you don't take any. That would be hypocritical.

That's not the point. You're suggesting that it's going to be oh so easy to be back up and about again, but you're conveniently ignoring that alongside the good recruiting and development at Geelong, you've had a fair bit of good fortune that got you to the point where you were an on field powerhouse. Good fortune that the current system will not allow to happen again.

FWIW I think Murdoch is very unlikely to want to leave. Geelong will consider him a required player, he signed a three year deal only a few months ago and he recently got engaged to a Geelong girl. He's clearly very settled here. I know Carlton pushed Kennedy out the door and Brisbane essentially did the same with Henderson, but I would be very surprised if Murdoch is put on the table.
That wouldn't surprise ......your view of Smedts who has really stagnated in the last 2 years?

No ...first this year and first next year ....they need to get Henderson

Trust me ..it won't be 3 picks .....unless a player we don't want has currency to be traded for a second round ....frankly can't see any ?

Think we can do without the lectures from the likes of you. Your soapbox ranting is over the top.

If this is typical of Geelong people in general this trade period is not going to go well.

lol wtf are talking about? Ben Jarman is eligible next season.

He is, but the system now dictates that we will pay around the value that his junior ranking suggests he's worth. The only bargain basement F/S picks now will be from players that nobody really rated as juniors, but go on to be guns.

I still have faith in Smedts but I'm in the minority. Played his best footy in 2013 as a small forward but was shifted to the backline in 2014 for some bizarre reason, since we're crying out for a small forward. He's had a lot of injuries woes including a broken collarbone this season. Perhaps he may feel a fresh start will invigorate him. The talent is certainly there.

Nah mate I meant

Pretty sure Murdoch's GF went with him from Adelaide

He's 6' 1" ....pretty tall small forward .....been tried back and forward ....yeah has the talent but is looking like replicating Tambling (unfulfilled talent)

Definitely first next season as its a much stronger draft next year ......clubs will be trying to trade out of the 2nd round this draft

wow, a lot wrong here. Tanking for picks doesn't work, as those clubs develop shit cultures, but all those high draft picks worked for Hawthorn. Our list is better moving forward as almost all of your best players are over 30. you'll probably spike back into the 8 over the next couple of years, but after that there is a strong chance geelong will bottom out.

right, I wasn't sure if he meant father/sons on the cheap, or father/sons all together.

<snip>You need to stop obsessing about players who aren't there, and shore up funds for those who are, to stave off more raids.

Geelong players rarely leave for massive coin. They either have left over the years through injury, retirement, delisting or they are Gary Ablett. We have plenty in the cap for Danger.

Let's just look at this last sentence in detail ...

"Geelong players rarely leave for massive coin" .... blah blah blah ... "Gary Ablett"
