Very subjective - just look at the Judd trade. What ever happens, this trade will be interesting to re-visit in 10 years time.
But that is what I've been saying all along. Adelaide will not receive compensation on the same level as the Judd trade. We don't have - but wouldn't trade even if we did - a player of Josh Kennedy's ilk. The closest to pick #3 we have is #9 and the closest we have to pick #20 will probably end up in the early 30s after all of the other comp picks are handed out.

If a trade happens, and it's two draft picks and a player, it'll probably be our first this year #9, our second next year (with its value dependant entirely upon where we finish on the ladder in 2016) plus George Horlin-Smith. I see Hyphen as the most dispensable of our contracted and uninjured players, and he's also a South Aussie. So unless you draft another Dangerfield with pick #9, I don't see how you guys can win.

Geelong really should have waited two years, played the youngsters, banked some draft picks and then picked him up as an UFA.

I get the feeling that they may have been as deluded as many of their supporters thinking that, "no ones matched yet, the Crows can't match because he's been a loyal servant for 8 years, their coach died and he wants to go home for family reasons, it would be the end of RFA, so they can't and won't match under those circumstances".

crows may be required to hand over a later pick or if you are trading next years 1st that doesn't effect you this year anyway in terms of list numbers so nothing to see

an eg may be crows get 2 first rounders , cats get danger and a 3rd or 4th rounder / or mackay :)
Look dude, giving us Dangerfield isn't enough compensation for us to take Mackay off your hands! The guy is a terribly inconsistent footballer. How he got the contract he did is beyond incomprehensible - it actually defied all logic! I've seen him play about three good games in total.

Yep, this sums up Mckays career.

Actually he is consistent, consistently terrible.

Apparently he and Danger are best mates, so it's a package deal.

But that is not our problem. It's yours, if you want dangerfield, you need to find the assets to trade.

You can not go to the shop and want a pie and say, I only have $1.20 so give it to me anyway. Or you can not say, I have a $50 note but I don't want to break it, so sell me the pie anyway for the scraps I have in my pocket.

You need to get creative to make a deal happen or get disappointed when a trade doesn't happen.

I'm used to bring left without anything from crap trades, one more wont change anything.

Minimum will be 2015 first pick plus 2016 first pick. The AFC is after outside run and key defenders, Geelong doesn't have any of quality that will be offered up. a GHS will only be part of the deal as steak knives if he asks to return home.

How about Ablett getting a vote to win it last year when shouldn't have. Something stinks with the Brownlow. Of that I am sure.

Pear fans have a definite point about the first Showdown this year. Danger 3 votes. Seriously? Hmmmmm.
He had the pill 36 times. Easy to see why the umpires would see that as 3 votes.

I like your chutzpah but Kolodjashnij has literally just been re-signed for a few years, would be pretty low to trade him off (and possibly less than legal?). Somewhat defeats the purpose of getting Henderson, too.

I think the real loser here is going to be Carlton. They are not going to get anything like what they want for Henderson because he was, in their words, about to be dropped from the worst team of 2015. Dangerfield at least is a top-five player so the cost for Geelong of missing out on him is quite real, Henderson's not really quite as vital.

What the hell is 'chutzpah'?

Im still confused on Dangers take on this, if the decision had been made whenever it was. Do you think the first question he would have asked Geelong is the barriers that could stop him getting to Geelong, and what guarantee Geelong would give him to make sure he gets there? We all know about the matching offer and PD knew what wage he was being offered, is Dangerfield that friggen dumb to realise that the AFC could match and it would come to a trade. Surely he knows the extent to what Geelong will trade and being so close to Roo in particular with the fact he is partnership with him at the pub, this information would have made its way to the AFC. So efefctively PD probably did the negotiating for Adelaide which is why he may be so confident saying Adelaide would be compensated fairly.
All valid questions which can't possibly be answered with so little facts. I guess once everything unfolds, everything will become a little clearer. As flippant as that answer is, anything else would be wild assumptions.

You have not!

I will respecfully diagree. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Dangerfield wants to leave Adelaide and ONLY wants Geelong. Adelaide has lost significant leverage given that fact. He's a F/A who wants to come home for family reasons, so while that isn't Adelaide's problem and doesn't preclude them from their rights to match given the restricted component of Danger's F/A situation, Adelaide really only has one buyer.

The AFL and the Player's Association will not let Adelaide demand a ridiculously unreasonable compensation package and will put pressure on Adelaide to accept something which is reasonable given ALL of the facts. Pick #9 this year plus steak knives (GHS) and next year's second rounder is smack bang in the middle of pick #14 compensation and what you guys on here are baying for.
