I hope Adelaide do match and force the Cats to the trade table. pick #14 is crap for a player of Dangerfield's ability.
I think in the past, Geelong have been pretty good people to deal with so I think a deal will get done pretty early. How they then manage to get Henderson, I'm not sure, but that's none of your concerns.
I'm not so sure why you guys (and some afc supporters) believe paddy whole heartedly when he says he only wants Geelong. Paddy knows that by stating this it only pushes his price further up amongst the other clubs and the cats.I will respecfully diagree. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Dangerfield wants to leave Adelaide and ONLY wants Geelong. Adelaide has lost significant leverage given that fact. He's a F/A who wants to come home for family reasons, so while that isn't Adelaide's problem and doesn't preclude them from their rights to match given the restricted component of Danger's F/A situation, Adelaide really only has one buyer.
The AFL and the Player's Association will not let Adelaide demand a ridiculously unreasonable compensation package and will put pressure on Adelaide to accept something which is reasonable given ALL of the facts. Pick #9 this year plus steak knives (GHS) and next year's second rounder is smack bang in the middle of pick #14 compensation and what you guys on here are baying for.

3 way trade, maybe?
Dangerfield and Henderson to Geelong.
Geelong's 1st this year and Carlton's first next year (based on the assumption / hope that they climb a few spots next year) to the Crows.
Geelong's 1st and 2nd next year plus a player (Walker, maybe) and possibly a player from the Crows (Kerridge?) to Carlton.
Geelong get their players, Crows get their 2 first round picks for Dangerfield. Only downside might be for Carlton who don't get a first round pick for Henderson. But there's not much in his form to justify a first rounder IMO, so 2nd round in a strong draft next year plus a couple of players might be enough?
Why do you think that danger has not won more b&f awards in the past?
Just realised it won't work.Actually doesn't sound too bad for all parties. Not sure Carlton needs more fill up players, so maybe a second rounder from Adelaide instead of Kerridge.
Why do you think that danger has not won more b&f awards in the past?
no trying to get a gauge where he sits, thompson doesnt get the accoladesBecause Talia in 2014 had a better year, Sloane in 2013 had a standout year and Thompson in 2011 and 12 was out best player.
Are you suggesting something sinister?
The defensive side of his game was poor until this year , his tackling stats nearly doubled this yearWhy do you think that danger has not won more b&f awards in the past?
Why do you think that danger has not won more b&f awards in the past?
So. Much. This. But that is not our problem. It's yours, if you want dangerfield, you need to find the assets to trade.
You can not go to the shop and want a pie and say, I only have $1.20 so give it to me anyway. Or you can not say, I have a $50 note but I don't want to break it, so sell me the pie anyway for the scraps I have in my pocket.
You need to get creative to make a deal happen or get disappointed when a trade doesn't happen.
I'm used to bring left without anything from crap trades, one more wont change anything.
Competition, he'll win plenty at Geelong though.
no trying to get a gauge where he sits, thompson doesnt get the accolades
seems like danger does the flashy stuff
Murdoch or GHS to me is six of one or half a dozen of the other. I'd prefer to keep Murdoch slightly, but I think Geelong would have a much easier time convincing GHS of moving back to Adelaide than they would Murdoch. Murdoch isn't from Adelaide, he's from Mount Gambier and has met a Geelong girl and has stated how happy he is living in Geelong. GHS on the other hand may be happier to move given that he's an inside mid who won't have a lot of opportunities with Danger and reportedly Scott Selwood in the midfield next year.Pick 9, 2nd rounder and Murdoch would get it done I'd say
Danger is not a 'free agent' if we match the bid , that's why it's called a 'bid' when you are dealing with 'restricted' free agents so that theory doesn't
wash
Our side is that goodWhy do you think that danger has not won more b&f awards in the past?
I agree that won't happen but either will GHS , we have guys on our list for his role that are better eg CEYMurdoch or GHS to me is six of one or half a dozen of the other. But honestly, I have tried to meet you guys half way with potential trades if Adelaide match. You can at least see that, but you may want to explain to your compatriots that the ridiculous demands of two firsts plus a Cockatoo or Gregson or both just will not happen.
I believe that Paddy loves Moggs Creek more than Mardi and his parents combined. He wants to lives there more than anything and there's no way he plans on commuting four hours a day to go to training. Geelong is 50 minutes from Moggs, so that's where his playing days from here on in will be at. Anything else he says, like anyone who I don't know from a bar of soap, is taken with a grain of salt.I'm not so sure why you guys (and some afc supporters) believe paddy whole heartedly when he says he only wants Geelong. Paddy knows that by stating this it only pushes his price further up amongst the other clubs and the cats.
Trust me mate. You cannot believe a thing this bloke says. He is very smart and a cunning bastard. He is not a team player and will take what suits his party.
You guys have not had paddy in your media constantly for the past 8 years. We have and we have been able to judge a man on his word. Let me tell you, it's not a sure thing.
Either way if he gets to Geelong, Melbourne, Saints, Gold Coast, Hawks etc etc. he will get the best deal for him, not your club.
BTW I am one supporter who is quite okay with him leaving. He does not fit into the mold of where our club is heading and a culture that we are fairly new to and trying to build. One that relies on team for success and playing for each other.
Good luck
Tom Hawkins to Adelaide
Dangerfield to Geelong
Fair deal for us![]()
