Channel Nine news reporting we want Murdoch and pick 9, but he needs convincing because he is settled in Geelong

Why do you think that danger has not won more b&f awards in the past?

He's the sort of player who has 12-14 amazing games and 8-10 pretty 'meh' ones.

If our B&F had a Brownlow-like 3-2-1 vote structure, he would have won one before 2015.

Also, he hasn't entered his prime yet, so there's that. I expect his next 3 seasons will be his best (injury-permitting), as per the vast majority of AFL players aged 25-28.

We better get more than this or heads will roll at West Lakes. This deal is a bloody disgrace. He won't even make our best 22.
not sure why murdoch and hs are mentioned as they dont seem to fill holes in your list
i would have thought you would take compo
then swap 13 and your 3,4,5 for our first and third
murdoch doesnt seem like a pressing need for your list

Pick 9 and Murdock? Yeaaaaaaaa, let's get excited at the dangerfield loss.

Isn't trading supposed to give hope as well when you lose a key player. That trade doesn't give me hope, it gives me bloody depression.

Murdoch would walk into our best 22 with zero questions asked. You realise VB and Mackay both played against Hawthorn right? As far as non KPPs who actually played in 2015 for us go, Murdoch would clearly be ahead of the following:

VB
Mackay
Wright
Atkins
Grigg
CEY
Kerridge (he played a quarter)
Lyons

He'd also be at least on par with Henderson. It's very difficult to compare him to Knight but if we were to acquire Murdoch, he and Knight would both be entrenched in the 22 anyway so it's irrelevant.

If we only get one 1st round pick from Geelong our list manager and football department should get the sack immediately. Unless of course there are shades of Tippettgate in this! It's the only reason I see us doing this!

I believe that Paddy loves Moggs Creek more than Mardi and his parents combined. He wants to lives there more than anything and there's no way he plans on commuting four hours a day to go to training. Geelong is 50 minutes from Moggs, so that's where his playing days from here on in will be at. Anything else he says, like anyone who I don't know from a bar of soap, is taken with a grain of salt.
I'm not saying he doesn't love Moggs Creek. Just beware that what he says and what he does are often completely different thing.
Not sure if you have ever heard as it may have only been a SA media statement but he once stated as a matter of fact that he would only ever move from The crows for onfield success.
He will change his word to suit him not your or my clubs.
And it's his right also to choose where he plays his career. Cannot begrudge the fella for that.

You've quoted my post and then written something which doesn't remotely relate to what I've posted. That's odd.

Let me rephrase it, he won't get us better. We will just swap one role player for another role player.,

I will respecfully diagree. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Dangerfield wants to leave Adelaide and ONLY wants Geelong. Adelaide has lost significant leverage given that fact. He's a F/A who wants to come home for family reasons, so while that isn't Adelaide's problem and doesn't preclude them from their rights to match given the restricted component of Danger's F/A situation, Adelaide really only has one buyer.

The AFL and the Player's Association will not let Adelaide demand a ridiculously unreasonable compensation package and will put pressure on Adelaide to accept something which is reasonable given ALL of the facts. Pick #9 this year plus steak knives (GHS) and next year's second rounder is smack bang in the middle of pick #14 compensation and what you guys on here are baying for.

Someone else may have already commented on this....... anyway I am not sure that is totally correct. I would consider the draft having as much influence on what we get as having other clubs ready to buy. Reality is Danger wants to go home, Geelong wants him and Adelaide has reluctantly accepted that we have lost him. But the threat of the draft means that Geelong may not get their wish. The only way to truly tie this down is for Geelong to give the Crows a fair and reasonable deal.

The argument that everybody is having is what is fair and reasonable. Two lots of supporters will have two definitions. I think everyone accepts that Geelongs pick 9 this year is a start. I think that deep down even Geelong supporters know that there has to be more. Unfortunately they want him for nothing which I understand but that will not happen.

As somebody else has stated...when you go into a shop to buy something you need to have the money to pay for it. Geelong knew this when they started to woo Danger.

If Geelong is reasonable then they will have Danger in blue and white next year.

Which player were you hoping to get? Murdoch is a very solid player, and he would make us better, because he's a better football player than all of the players I listed, and they all got games in 2015. That's kind of how it works.

We have no hope of getting 'fair' value for Dangerfield but we have to make the best of a shitty situation. Slot Murdoch onto a wing, bring in a high quality kid with pick 9, or on-trade it for a star from another club (Bennell would be nice but seems unlikely) and that's a lot better than just a compo pick lower than 9.

EDIT: Yes it's still a shit deal. A 'great deal' simply does not and will not exist, and this isn't anyone's fault. It's the nature of the situation. If we can jag two first rounders and Murdoch I'd be ecstatic, but I honestly don't think geelong will even entertain that notion.

Anyway, this discussion is probably pointless. Murdoch re-signed with the Cats about a month ago. Why on earth would he change his mind, realistically. 90% chance to stay at Geelong I'd suggest.

Murdoch or GHS to me is six of one or half a dozen of the other. I'd prefer to keep Murdoch slightly, but I think Geelong would have a much easier time convincing GHS of moving back to Adelaide than they would Murdoch. Murdoch isn't from Adelaide, he's from Mount Gambier and has met a Geelong girl and has stated how happy he is living in Geelong. GHS on the other hand may be happier to move given that he's an inside mid who won't have a lot of opportunities with Danger and reportedly Scott Selwood in the midfield next year.

But honestly, I have tried to meet you guys half way with potential trades if Adelaide match. You can at least see that, but you may want to explain to your compatriots that the ridiculous demands of two firsts plus a Cockatoo or Gregson or both just will not happen.

Why would we want GHS, we have plethora of decent inside mids.
