Maybe ....but IMO he has lost a chance to be remembered as a truly great player in history ...let's see how it turns out from here as it rarely turns out for the better

All for another 6 years at the Crows .....yes i understand his decision ....but footballing partners have to stop wearing the pants

What a stupid statement. Oh he plays football therefore he's the only one that matters. Relationships are two people not one and a hanger on.

Would you marry a soldier then tell him to leave the army coz he keeps getting posted to shitty places? Would you marry a teacher then tell him to leave teaching because he keeps getting rural posts?

Pretty sure Mardi has known for more than a few minutes what Paddy's career was and what it involved.

True, but it is not the actual mechanical skill letting Danger down. He has a great kick.

The flaw in Danger's game is the decision making to kick it blindly up the ground instead of lifting the eyes and hitting a team mate.
His problem is composure ....everything flat out ....he works on it & you can see he consciously trying to settle ...but then under pressure it goes belly up

Danger is see ball get ball. Tough at the contest and has a good kick and get the ball to a team mate when it is the obvious choice. Guys like Fyfe and Pendles read the play and create more opportunities down the ground and create passages of play that are not obvious.
Correct ......he doesn't bring team mates into the game ....he tries to win the game himself ...and he's very good at it

I doubt Danger would have the forsight to read the play like Tex did against the Bulldogs in THAT goal Charlie kicked. Danger would have ran down the wing and either had a shot himself or kicked it to Jenkins who was struggling to grab a mark all game.
No he would have gone for goal ....and probably kicked it on most ocassions ......but Tex's play was team play perfection with better odds

At this stage Danger relies too heavily on his pace .....he has poor agility, no sidestep, so he needs pace to break away
Will be interesting when as with Judd his pace drops off ......IMO could be a great forward in latter years

I think we can come out of this stronger onfield.

Danger is a great player, I wont slander his onfield ability. But he has his faults and is not really top tier elite when compared to the best in the game. He aint no Fyfe or Pendlebury. If the sum total of his trade is that we can get two (or more) quality players to replace him we win.

I look to what WCE did with the Judd trade and feel we can emulate that.
No way Noble is going to get the same value for Danger as WC got for Judd. Pick 3 and Kennedy.
I just remember back to Sydney and Tippett. Their opening bid was pick 23 and White. Noble got up and said he was going to push for a better deal. Two weeks later he went to the AFL to lodge pick 23 and White.
An negotiator he isnt.

Maybe not in draft picks ....but we'll still get 2 first round picks on rookie salaries PLUS have the Dangerfield warchest to attract player/players ......I know this depends on our recruiting team but could end up 3 quality players for Dangerfield & that's a big plus

Man, some of you guys are coming across as jilted lovers.
Hes a gun. Dead set gun. Top 3 in the game
Stop trying to talk him down, its embarrising.
Just accept that he is going and demand the club get fair value for him.
Good people dont leave good organizations.

Fyfe also isn't a great kick

As a passionate club supporter heading to the draft wanting the next champion for your club, who would you rather

Mathew pavlich, Mark Ricciutto, Nat Fyfe, Brett Kirk Michael voss , the list goes on

Or

Buddy, GAJ, Danger , Judd

Great players but the locality of a pea. Judd may be the only one you could say he may have had loyalists if he wasn't part of a drug cultured team

Yep, or we could get two or three duds.
We have a very good reputation in the last 6-7 years (after coach was taken out of process) in getting first round choices correct

That's an absolutely ridiculous example.

Are you seriously referencing the time Noble had to negotiate with someone who knew we had illegally put in writing that we would trade a player for a second round pick?

I'm sure as a couple you would discuss what you wanted to achieve together. It's not just about HIS career. Perhaps a compromise is made?

I come from a generation of women that put their husbands careers ahead of their own. We moved to the USA for his first post doc. I had had a brilliant job in defence. Great money. Great prospects. Went to the U.S. and became a babysitter and volunteer at the children's hospital. Then we went to Canada for another post doc. Luckily I was able to get a job at the Australian consulate so I wasn't relegated to the "wait til they're done" support spouse. Then more moves for his work - Perth, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Brisbane. ive done ok for myself, but have always worked to support his choices. I'm pretty sure women today will not do that, and neither they should have to.

Are you saying no first rounders are duds??
Remember we are talking about replacing danger.
Would you be happy with two Mackays?
Mackay wasn't a first rounder was he. Also Sydney offered us 23 and White because they knew thats all they had to due to Mr Trigg and Mr Reid.

Can someone recap the last week and a half on here please?
Is Alex back?
Dangerfield is still gawn.
Geelong peeps still proposing ridiculous scenarios.
Adelaide peeps still proposing equally ridiculous scenarios.
Adelaide peeps still pissed off at Danger.
Alex may or may not be back under a pseudonym - depends who you speak to.
Nothing formal announced by either club.

Dangerfield left when he knew how much the club needed him and what losing another player would do to the supporter
That's just it Jen, you don't have to be a genius to see it. As Sanders rightly points out, his "reasons" changed as it suited him. First it was about success, then it became about family. Neither are true... it's about being a hometown hero if you ask me.
the guy is thinking about life after footy......not that being in Brisbane hurt johnathon Browns media career. I'm PD would've gotten a gig in Melbourne if he stayed

I have no idea why any of this is relevant. You just sound a touch resentful actually. Maybe you're projecting, in your defence of Patrick/Mardi?

I'm not defending him. At all. Nor am I projecting.

It appeared that some of you need to understand that relationships - including careers - is not just about ONE persons career. For whatever outdated reason, some are saying they think Mardi should pull her head in and wait and til Patrick's career is over before having a say in their life together. Seriously? Time to move into the 21st century.

Actually, instead of going the lecture, you should reflect on the fact you are quite similar to Danger. You started off defending family as a valid reason, and have now morphed that into career, to suit your own little crusade.

That said, if Patrick moved to honour Mardis lucrative retail career, I'd challenge you to defend it.

Media: why are you leaving, Patrick?
Dangerfield: well Mardi got offered a store managers job at the new Geelong Pandora shop
Media: sounds legit

And I assume you've never made one of those in your life before?

It's like me telling you you can never change jobs, you must stay where you are regardless of offers of more money, better conditions or closer to family. Even though you like where you are, you can see the new opportunity would be great for your family, but you can't go because we don't want you to have a life until we've had enough of you, then we'll be happy for the club to delist, discard or trade you to somewhere else whether you want to go or not.

I guess that's what the posters are suggesting. No problem with him changing jobs, if that's what he sees it as. But if he sees it as a jib and not as being part of the team/club that they support, then he's just an ex-employee who's gone to a direct competitor.

Wow you have saved me ridiculous amounts of time.
