Players can stipulate years + income in the psd. The difference is that any team that gets a pick has the option to take it on.

Yeah they can do that in the PSD but I'm pretty sure they can't in the normal draft. The article was saying, if gets to that point, Dangerfield is going to stipulate a one year contract in the normal draft so teams won't want to take him before pick 9 and burn a good pick. Aside from the point that they could then get double the pick they "burned" the next year in trade, I don't think he can stipulate a contract length (or any conditions) in the main draft. To my knowledge they're two years standard and that can't be changed.

with Wells recruiting,a 2nd rounder is as good as a first for us. And like I said, we are getting one of the best players in the game. Those first rounders could easily turn out to be a Mitch Thorpe or Kane Tenace.

Can we just stop with this "gave his all" bullshit. He played to the best of his ability for the club. Majority of players play to the best of their ability for their club. It's what they grew up dreaming about and what they're 100% passionate about. They get paid big bucks to do what they love doing and I hate the term "servant of the club" or "he served the club" whenever it's used about any player. No one "serves" a club. Every player gets more than adequate return for their contribution and no one owes anyone anything.

Any decision Roo, Fagan, Noble and Ried make will be what is best for the AFC, they need to make sure they are doing everything they can to give the guys who want to play for our club the best chance for success. Making it known it's not easy to get required players out of the club is part of that.

I think the deal has already been done and just awaiting for trade week to announce it.
