I see Andrew Mckay has got into his drugs early this year, normally he only takes his hallucinogenics on draft night. Only way to explain him thinking Henderson is a pick 9 player while thinking Boekhorst and Napoleon Dynamite* look like players worth a top 20 pick.

And he will get picked up by Carlton/Essendon/Melbourne/Brisbane/Gold Coast.

We can only hope, but I would imagine Geelong have phoned those clubs to find out how likely they are to take him and Paul Connors would be calling them to give them reasons not to.

If Dangerfield is really looking at making everyone happy and really still truly does love the Adelaide Crows and just wanted to go home to Family he should tell his manager he is happy for the Crows to match the contract and then negotiate on trade.
None of this do the right thing Adelaide bull shit and accept the free agency value due to the scenario of Buddy Franklin and a few others.

FFS Buddy was offered a 10 year contract on 9 million a deal no one else would have ever matched that.
Patty will be on only 800 thousand for 5 years something Crows would have definitely looked at paying him if not more.

All along I have believed that Danger loves the AFC but he would like to go home. Now with this talk of going to the draft I read somewhere where either he or his manager stated that no club would use a high draft pick for a player that might only stay at that club for one year. So if Danger and his manager are happy to change clubs for a year and if Danger loves the AFC so much why wouldn't he just stay at the AFC for another year (maybe 2 so he can invoke FA). Surely to be forced into a club that he doesnt want to go to for a year is worse than staying with a club that he loves.

If this is correct I feel that I must reconsider my opinion of Danger.

Not sure if the AFC would take him back to be honest. We just know he's going to leave again, so why would we?

You do realise that it was Adelaide that lead the charge to get Paul Little to pull his head in last year? It was actually Chapman that called the meeting with two other AFL Chairmen and it was those three that scared Little so much that he didn't turn up to the Chairs meeting at the AFL. Fagan got an apology from Xavier Campbell for not abiding by the gentleman's agreement and we then got it out there in the media? Fagan was the one who did the majority work in changing the agreement with the SMA? Yeah, we just bend over time and again apparently. Except this past year when we haven't.

And after all that Essendon still got their coach from under our noses

I am not suggesting that we tale him back. I just questioning his motivation for leaving. For a player to put himself through such a process suggests that he is busting his gut to get away from us.

The whole purpose of restricted free agency is for exactly what Adelaide are contemplating doing, you are emotionally invested in the Dangerfield situation so your judgment is equally as clouded as any Adelaide supporters judgment would be. The belief that the Crows should just roll over and allow Geelong a free hit to sign a restricted free agent on a lowball deal is just because Geelong supporters are thinking emotionally about it.

To suggest that missing out of the compo pick would be irresponsible management for Adelaide suggests that you don't really know our situation at all. To set a precedent where we turn a bind eye to Geelong's attempt to lure a restricted free agent for unders would be far more damaging to our club in the long term than missing out on pick 15 (or whatever it is).
Adelaide shouldn't be worrying about what Geelong get, they need to break it down to Option A or Option B (if it comes down to that) and if Option B means you get something Vs nothing, then you take that. I'm not trying to convince anyone of what decision Adelaide SHOULD make, I'm just saying that to get nothing and let Danger walk would be foolish, especially if he finds his way to Geelong anyway.

I don't think it sets a precedent because every trade is unique and something involving a player of this calibre only happens at most once a year throughout the whole league meaning that the circumstances are not going to apply broadly to every trade from here on out. Players aren't going to just start walking out the door because Adelaide accepted a priority pick for Danger. There's far too many elements involved to simplify it down to that. I don't think it will have any impact on how anyone, including players and managers, view Adelaide.

so true .. cant beleive the amount of people here willing to accept pick 9 and effectively a 2nd or 3rd round worth ... for danger .. too many here accepting mediocrity.
Too many here are being realistic and understanding that we won't get Danger's worth no matter which we way we go - we match and trade, or we send him to the draft, or we don't match and we get compo pick - whichever way we go, we get unders. The trick is to ensure we position ourselves in such a way that will enable us to trade in and up.

Nah, of course not. After the Easter Bunny was appointed head coach and signed the tooth fairy out of the make believe academy it was obvious it had all backfired on them

WTF are you talking about?

We got an apology they got Worsfold. Woo hoo go us
o_O

You must be absolutely kidding yourself. This is not about specific trades, this is about Adelaide's reputation as a trading partner for every single trade ever going forward. If we blink early (and accept compo), opposition traders will use that against us until we stop doing it. It's basic poker/chicken concept.

And also, you don't seem to place any value on the Crows being known as strong traders in the future. The AFC supporters who believe we should take a stand and send PD to the draft for nothing, value this more than pick 14.

Sounds like the cats have promised pick 9 to carlton for Henderson. Here's a prediction, before Dangerfield has even officially accepted Geelong's offer they will trade 9 to carlton and make it impossible for us to get 2 first round picks out of them.

PD is going into the PSD.

Mmm such a hard choice ...

Either we give pick 9 to AFC and get Dangerfield, then try to pick up Henderson in the draft ... or give pick 9 to Carlton and get Henderson, then try to pick up Dangerfield in the draft

Which of those two players will be hunted in the draft by other clubs? I wonder ...

I also love that Geelong fans are saying that it makes sense to give away pick 9 to Carlton so Adelaide don't match - because if AFC match they will have to give away pick 9 !!!
