If he was a south Australian playing for an interstate club, then it would re-set and he would be 8 years away from free agency, But since he is a victorian playing for a south Australian club, then he would be unrestricted in 2 years. He is saying he won't set terms so he can sign a 1 year deal, after 1 year he will still be a restricted free agent.

The Geelong fans are pinning their hopes on bringing in three guys in their missing bracket? Dangerfield (26 / 154) - Henderson (25 / 117) - Scott Selwood (25 /135) and having a crack at the 2016 premiership ... I guess we will see how they go, but I don't see how they can climb to the top 4 in 2016.
Maybe the fans don't realise how much of hole they have to fill from those delistings / retirements? 5 players averaging over 200 games each - that is huge.
At the end of next year they will lose another 4 or 5 players and over 1000 games of experience. If they don't bounce in 2016 I reckon they could really plummet.

Geelong start delaying, playing silly buggers at the start of the trade period - trying to stretch it out.
We go hard at GWS and offer them players picks for an upgrade to pick 8.
Then we trade with Geelong.
<EDIT> actually just thought of something, if Geelong trade away pick 9 early on so they can say "We don't have anything to trade for PD" - how the hell are they gonna get him in the National Draft?

If Geelong really dont fear Danger ending up in a draft we have zero leverage. Im sure they will do their homework and figure out the likelihood of someone else taking him.
Lots of clubs will talk it up but I honestly believe none will pick a bloke against his will. His go home factor is a major issue.

Of course it does, Geelong are potentially attempting something sneaky with this whole Dangerfield deal. The club, by accepting the compo pick, would be essentially setting a precedent that we won't match low ball restricted free agency offers which potentially sets us up as a soft recruiting target for opposition clubs in the future to do the same.
This is not an "emotional" decision because Dangerfield is leaving, it's more to do with not allowing an opposition club to backdoor a restricted free agent out of the club through what I believe is a questionable process. I've said many times that if Geelong are to offer Dangerfield a massive deal that we're not prepared to match then he walks and we take pick 15 no questions asked, but Geelong for whatever reason do appear to be prepared to do this. Geelong seem to think that the restricted free agency rules shouldn't apply to them and they shouldn't have to do what Sydney did with Franklin and the Crows should just turn a blind eye while they try and circumvent restricted free agency.

If Geelong offer a ridiculously low offer and we don't match then Roo, Chapman and Fagan's positions will be bordering on untenable.
Geelong might be confident but no chance Mardi will be keen on Danger going in the draft, therefore I think Danger would be putting a fair bit of his own pressure on Conners and Geelong to do a trade.
By the sounds of it pick 9 should get it done but we want more and rightfully so.

Being based in Melbourne would mean 15 to 16 less interstate trips per year than if he was located outside Melbourne once you include things other than matches such as coaches meetings, AFL meetings, Brownlow, finals etc (Worsfold's numbers).
Worsfold said on 5AA that he never had and wouldn't consider coaching any other team than a Melbourne based team because of the travel - the primary reason for his retirement from the game 2 years ago, as it was not only tiring but affecting his marriage.
As you say nothing to do with the Crows other than to thank them for allowing him to revive the want to coach again.
Hold out for AFL mediation and get a reasonable result ala Essendon & Port last year.

If that's the only first rounder I would expect at least 2 x 2nd rounders worth of picks/players MINIMUM…even that's way unders (which we expect)
He was fairly firm on that the trade will be done early. And it will be a trade. He was adamant that compensation from RFA has never really been considered by either club, Geelong happy enough to trade and make it amicable (without handing over too much).
He said that the Crows were after a couple of draft picks or a draft pick and a player. He listed multiple players. Rowey is the one that locked in on the mention of Cockatoo and blew it out of proportion.
Rowey and a few callers then started going on about potential trades - the main one being repeated was Danger and Crows Pick 13 to Geeong. Pick 9 and Cockatoo to Crows. Geelong then trade 13 to Carlton for Henderson.
In short there was nothing of substance from that segment. Other than that Dwayne maintains that it will be a trade.
It is about time that the AFC grow some balls and buck the trend. If it costs pick 14, and even if Danger gets to Geelong via the draft, who give a f... If he does get to Geelong, it wont be our fault. It will be the stupidity of the 7 teams that allow him to get through to Geelong.

What I found interesting was when he said the Crows were seeing which of their players would want to be traded to Melbourne city
who cares? they pick him up for nothing and get to trade him for his full value one or two years later.
you'd be absolutely crazy to pass him up in the PSD.
They would do their homework and decide how real the risk of him being picked is.
