How is any of what you've said above worse than where we are now, which is people (rightly) pointing out that this looks like a protection racket for the ALP state governments. The actions of the federal government, and the unified decisions of National Cabinet, didn't exist in a vacuum during the pandemic.

If Victoria was to have it's own inquiry then the behaviour/actions of the feds should definitely be in the scope, as it had a direct impact on how the state responded. The inverse is equally true. Neither level of government exists in a vacuum.

They could only really include the decisions that were made and how they affected their own decision making.

It's pointless trying to review a different Governments' decision making, you can't change the process anyway.
