11 actually, and a CoV cup after we flogged you in 1924.

WOW, you beat us in 1924. VFA, big ****ing deal. Cool story brah

You're one premiership more successful then the mighty dockers, and were given a 70 year head start.

In two years hurley>>pears>>lake>>tom williams

Haha, what?

They are in the Australian Football League, formerly known as the Victorian Football League mate.

As pointed out, Port's SANFL premierships do not count, so this '11' figure is utter bollocks.

I'll repeat, you've won 1 premiership since 1925; that's pathetic.
Port Adelaide had equalled this feat within 7 years of joining the AFL. :thumbsu:

You can always tell when a side is pathetic by their return to history.

Can Jobe come up this week to go head to head with Mitchell and get the Bumblers into a one week final series ?

What exactly have the Bulldogs achieved in the nine years since Essendon's last premiership?

Nobody will remember that your side made last year's Preliminary final in ten years time; premierships are what count. Our club will win another before you win your second; I would bet my most prized possessions on it.

Yes, we'll be making up the numbers, but how is that any different to the Bulldogs?

The premiership will be won by either of St Kilda, Collingwood, Geelong or Adelaide. The Bulldogs do not stand a chance buddy.

The difference is we're realistic in our acknowledgement of this.

I'm sorry, you support the Western Bulldogs?

A club that has achieved one (1) premiership in a little under 100 years.

I'm not even trolling, but I honestly view the Bulldogs as basically filling a place in the top four until better sides (Adelaide, Brisbane, Hawthorn for a start) that are a legitimate chance of winning a premiership return there.

And why would that be so ridiculous? If Pears improves at his current rate (I'm not saying he will), in 2 years he will be one of the best Key Backs in the league. Lake will be 29 going-on 30, in a side that (assuming he stays at the Bulldogs) will be passed its premiership window.

Let me clarify; I'm not saying it's a sure-thing, but should the above happen, then in two years time said poll wouldn't be so far-fetched.

What a load of garbage, I hate these theories in football about premiership windows and the inevitability that sides at the top end now will be overtaken by the lower sides. Why are Brisbane and Adelaide "better sides" that are legitimate chances at flags? Are we the only side who are going to lose players in the next couple of years? Are Goodwin and McLeod still going to be guns for many years after Johnno and Aker are gone? Are Cooney, Higgins, Boyd and Cross going to become duds in the next two years? There is no reason why in two years we won't still be considerably better then Essendon, the sides in the mid to lower half of the league aren't the only sides with young players

What a load of garbage. You're disputing that sides at the top eventually fall to lower placed teams?. Perhaps it's reality that every single team in the history of AFL that's achieved a top 4 finish has fallen off. It's called a cycle.

Premiership windows are there. A window is a period of time where a core group of players are at their greatest chance of winning a premiership. It doesn't meant they won't win one outside the window - it just means it's more unlikely. Just like Essendon's opened in 99 and closed in 02, and Brisbane's in 05, and Freo's brief window in 06, and West Coast's in 07, and Geelong's possibly next year... Windows are THERE.

By the way - I'm not saying that the Dogs won't win a premiership, but in my view it's unlikely. It's just that your best probably won't match the best of the other contenders in the next couple of years, including this one. History will prove Whomb right or wrong in the end, but there's a fair argument that the dogs are just making up the numbers until the next lot of true contenders come along. I just can't seeing them beating the Saints or Cats or Pies unless they all luck out with injuries and the doggies get a Bradbury. Just like Footscray's window closed without a cup in the mid to late 90s, will the Dogs of 09/10/11 disappoint at the finish line like Powell in race against Bolt?

And he's right about Bulldog Joe; this flog had a go at Essendon for '5' years of mediocrity, but neglected that the Bulldogs have been a bit of a joke for longer than the life of my grandfather.

Why are Doggies supporters knocking Jobe Watson? I really like him as a player and his season has been fantastic. He has improved a hell of a lot and you can tell he has put in the hard work.

I also respect the year that Watson has had. He has been fantastic and one of the most improved players in the comp.

This poll was initiated well ahead of Watson's form and at that time there was absolutely no doubt that Cross was superior in every facet of the game. This type of poll seems a common theme from Essendon supporters.

Watson still needs to back up with consistent seasons to match the career of Cross.

In reality a poll like this cannot be satisfactorily completed because the perception changes with the fluctuating form each week.

Cross is better because of consistency at the moment.
When both retire Jobe would have been the better player.

Wow, looking over this thread, it's really packing full of cocky essendon supporters. Even the moderators are trolling.

How is having a legitimately differing view trolling?

If this was on the Bulldogs board, it could perhaps be considered asking for trouble, but on a public forum that is neither Essendon nor Bulldogs based, I'm entitled to my opinion.

Also if you read the thread again, you'll notice I replied to a Bulldogs supporter having a crack at the Essendon Football Club.

Get a clue.

Since when is this a Dogs Vs Dons thread?

I thought Moderators were supposed to keep threads on track...
Yeah fair point; in my defence the attack on our club was made first, I simply retaliated.

You won't here from me on the matter again. :thumbsu:
